We had until a few months a bread knife from Grandma (so a really great with a wooden handle). Anyway it suddenly disappeared. Despite all efforts, it is not resurfaced. I got me then, because I, among other things yes my bread cut by hand and cake is also only to cut neatly with reasonable bread knife, a good value retrieved from the discounters, because it was degrees on offer. As I said, it was cheap! Unfortunately, it was also cheap. After a few passages in the dishwasher, it was dull. (Grandma's knife has the dishwasher ;-) rarely seen from the inside, but it was until it was gone, super sharp. Now I've ordered the WMF knife. It is ever great in your hand, is very sharp, has already survived three courses dishwasher and seeing no restrictions or to notice. I believe that I later despite occasionally dishwasher can still make my granddaughter happy with this knife. :-) The bread can be cut beautifully. The knife "slides" downright thereby. Even the soft Sunday mares so I cut grade and the bread is afterwards not totally deformed. Yesterday I thus cut tomatoes, goat cheese and Garlic. Went great. The knife is actually an "all-purpose weapon" :-) and his money more than worth it.
