The Phoenix-Cover "1901" is already a real firecracker. The great piano sounds, coupled with the extraordinary voice of Birdy let the song of the French in a completely new light come on. Similar to the international chart hit "Skinny Love" (of Bon Iver in my opinion not nearly as intense), it focuses not on the songs simply nachzusingen but packaged them in their very own robe. What many strings, guitarist, keyboardist and drummer, if it so simple, so beautiful it?
"People help people" and "White Winter Hymnal" nestle gently in the ear canal, "The District Sleeps Alone" is so mercilessly good that the schrebbelige (sorry) original of "The Postal Service" does not like to hear.
The song is so mercilessly good!
Virtuos and spherical floats "I'll Never Forget You" over, "Shelter" convinces with powerful fragility, otherwise I can not describe Birdys voice.
"Fire and Rain" was with James Taylor quite large, but this song in Birdy style just goes under the skin. "Without a Word" is 4:47 minutes listening and "Terrible Love" completes this great album from. With a similar intensity and power as Adele or Florence Welch (Florence & The Machine) Birdy interpreted this song just terrific.
The only weak point of the whole album: "Young Blood". The only cover that I find better interpreted as of the original Birdy. Too much synth Gewummer to little piano and somehow not quite right for the rest of the album. But well, I "action" at a high level.
In "Birdy" I hope that is not the end of the career ladder, including the Good is only 15 years old. But as the saying goes, "what is worth waiting for" - 2008 Birdy won the competition "Open Mic UK" and by 2011, it took until their debut album was in stores. This compares to the winners of casting shows, then the snail's pace - but most of casting winners is one such quality also not used to.
Although I repeat to resume toward: "Birdy" is simply a great album a grandiose musician.
