Very very high level

I really wanted this time to wait long with its own review, and to see whether this epic work wears me. I can anticipate that that has not happened with me. Basically, this danger could exist entirely. Tobias Sammet has become so much really good music released that you inevitably waits times goes his creativity. Probably it is this happen someday with an album, but so far it does not seem to be. One thing is certain for me that Scarecrowtriologie represents me on a stage like the Metal Opera. But both works can be compared to no end. But they have failed musically simply too different.

In the course of this review, however, I let off The Scarecrow, even if they indispensable part in the overall picture of the two new works. I see it as very positive by the way, if not a musician makes a prisoner of a style. For Tobias Sammet the 10th stoppage would mean, if he had the original classic Power Metal style exclusively prescribed. And ultimately not treason but found place here, it's still metal and hard rock, he served us, and not hip-hop and techno. And Power Metal is still available if you just want the piece Scales of Justice sounds, lots of power with heavy guitars and otherwise perfectly sung by Tim Ripper Owens. Or the title track of their second album Angel of Babylon is very classic Power Metal, an excellent composition. Here, incidentally sings Jorn Lande in his usual courteous manner. On this piece, incidentally, makes us happy Jens Johansson with a truly fast keyboard solo.

But what makes the discs beyond even so outstanding, while songs on this album that are not only good, but also the makings of greatness have are. Of course, it is as always a matter of taste, everyone has their favorites. Sometimes it's funny in music history which songs are what or not. One of these very prominent songs Runaway Train. The only drawback is if you wanted to have this super hit for a wider audience, that he really is too long with 8:42 minutes, but a November Rain has already shown that something still goes. Personally, I am indeed in the longer songs and look forward in this context, the way to this new Maiden. But back to Runaway Train, acoustically and vocally introduced by Bob Catley with a beautiful melodic line. Overall, Toby, Bob, Jorn and Michael Kiske sharing the vocals in this song. This song is acoustic stuff alternate with hard rock and always stands in the foreground, the melody or the bombastic chorus sung all 4 singers. If someone wants his times rather the Hard Rock is not inclined towards women bring this a little closer, I recommend specially this song. A similar structure of the song structure would also Journey to Arcadia call. Here sing the same singer as in Runaway Train. Again, melody and bombastic chorus in the foreground, very nice.

Often Tobias Sammet is so assumed that he became more and more it tries to write mass-market music. I do not mean actually, which is always a matter of perspective. From the perspective of the ultra-hard Metalhead seen, the pieces may be too soft fall, but then he would be in the compost ion of Tobias never been at home. In my opinion, is the hardest part of his spring Mysteria of the Hellfire Club, which places a non-existent locks the grade. Scales of Justice is of the hardness of it but not far away, at times to call a comparison on. And I find it positive that two albums just half ballads are on it, even if I like to hear in between a tearjerker. The Edge on The Wicked Symphony is the semi-ballad, singing on the Toby alone without one of his guests. And the only real ballad would Blowing Out the Flame on the Angel of Babylon. This thing has certainly Hitcharakter, but I would prefer that the plants would find widespread attention because of other pieces. Where this is going with the ballads, we know since the Scorpions. Everyone expects the lighter songs on each album. So it is also a prisoner of its popularity. On the last Scorpions are then of 11 tracks 4 (!) Ballads. Who wants to be then ...?! Speaking of Scorpions, Klaus Meine sings with Toby Dying for an Angel, a piece in which Toby shows how he is able to tailor songs on determined singer. Beautiful thing, incidentally.

But Toby not waäre Toby if he could do not surprising. Death is just a Feeling is seen by many as the ultimate sequel to The Toymaster. No, he is not, thanks to Jon Oliva this song has become a real gem, much stronger than Toymaster. I rarely hear someone from the deepest soul so beautiful singing dirty, a real treat. It is also surprising Crestfallen, quite different from usual rhythm and riffs forth with slight electronic influences that can be found on the way Ratrace. Or Symphony of Life, on which the only female singer Cloudy Yang is heard. This song is actually the only one who does not come from Tobys spring.

Of the other songs I want to mention Blizzard on a broken mirror. This Toby said in an interview that he had not initially come with the music to Potte. If you listen to the result with the evolving driving rhythm, you may not believe it.

The list of guest singers is long. Jorn Lande, Russell Allen, Michael Kiske and Bob Catley sing with on several pieces, they are something like the constant in the Avantasiaprojekt. There are also for individual songs Klaus Meine, Ripper Owens, Cloudy Yang, Jon Oliva, Oliver Hartmann, Andre Matos and Ralf Zdiarstek. Even an illustrious round, right?

I think Toby will present the music still often live, otherwise perhaps be more cautious with new compositions, because he now distributed in 5 albums has delivered on two Prokekte damn high level. What is still to come? He'd better leave everything is not a blast, in the drawer. And other singers? Dio unfortunately is no longer alive, Bruce Dickinson, David Coverdale, Ian Gillan are still options that need but have only once the time and inclination.
