Already during installation (here under Win 7) shows in many places that the software is not mature or sinnfrei "gold" and sometimes bugged. Problems installing or the drivers are not uncommon, the error messages or assistance are not really helpful and even taken for granted as an automatic update or the recording of a patch types in shortcomings from. To stay with the example patch, the software can not automatically update themselves as the main program will not be closed - sometimes the software not even start after the patch. It takes time until the software can finally do what they should, the stability of the old days is hardly recover here.
The playback quality itself is strong, both DVD and Blu-ray feature a sharp image, good colors, great contrast and a good sound, sometimes the program depends also easy to need an eternity until a BD loaded was or stutters in the playback. Weak is also the fact that some BDs must be driven by an improvised remote control, although located on the disc, but a bit more comfort would be attached. Funny in this context is the app that allows to control the player via WiFi, but even that just does not work for all products.
In general, the software has continued to grow (as once the burning program Nero) from version to version. Youtube videos save and watch offline? Watch videos from Facebook or Vimeo here? Photos and music on the software enjoy? All these are typical examples of what I just do not want to do with the software, since it is enough for (better) alternatives. The own cloud that can be used free of charge for one year does not fit the requirements. Added to this is the Agent, nestling in the background - why, why, why? Why must run the, although the software is not running?
The expectations of a software called PowerDVD is clearly defined, you want to play movies. For normal DVDs, there are several variations in the software for Blu-ray discs, however, sees it differently. Here CyberLink can score, because the licenses and the codecs for decryption of the current media is offered, however, can the company pay the expensive. Something about eighty euros costs of fun when you want to watch on their PC Blu-rays, because roughly speaking, to this ability and the use of the (brilliant) HEVC / H. 265 standards, which enables an even better image quality with decreasing (!) Provide data amount, PowerDVD 14 can hardly convincing.
PowerDVD14 wanted to offer much, but suggests itself. Many crashes, inconvenient behavior, long load times and other inconveniences unite precisely where the software has some unique selling point, when playing BDs on PC. So it makes little fun because despite the strong performance that could bring the Software failures now and again goes for anger and the movie fun. Depending on the DVD, it looks much better, but there are plenty of cheaper options.
