Keyblocking the problem from Illuminated predecessor has been fixed. The shortcut W + Shift + Space works !!!
2. Now for all the others:
Unfortunately, the look and feel of the wireless variant is a lot worse than that of Illuminated - Wired.
The letters are not as nice, the strongly rounded keys act cheaper, the palm rest - strong plastic feeling. So what has made the old Illuminated so noble is unfortunately pushed into the background.
Everything else is just excellent, wired as with the Illuminated.
Main changes compared to the Illuminated - Wired:
+ No Keyblocking the combination W + Shift + Space (was a big gamer problem with the old Illuminated)
+ Modifier key: Calculators
+ No cable required (although possible !!!)
+ A brightness level more (total of 4)
+ Spacebar just whisper like all other keys (in the Wired. Illuminated spacebar was much louder than the other keys)
+ There is now a function key "power saving mode" or "shutdown"
+ The F1-F12 keys are now also lit
Become appearance of buttons, letters and keyboard form worse -
- Palm rest from the same synthetic material which, like the whole keyboard (plastic was formerly much more pleasant)
- No on / off display of "NUM" and "roll" key on the keyboard
- No CD with software available (you have to download now)
What is even more positive note, the super small Unifying receiver, with which one additional wireless devices such as. can receive a mouse. In addition, still quite a long USB extension cable and a USB charging cable is in the attachment.
All in all it is a successful keyboard. Logitech would leave unchanged the Illuminated keyboard in terms of appearance and feel, this keyboard would be truly breathtaking. However, those who previously did not have "Logitech Illuminated", will not notice this decline, since the keyboard visually still plays in the top league.
Just buy it for those who can afford it!
PS the advertising of Logitech for the vertical setting up the keyboard is a joke! A slight breeze and the keyboard pops back into the horizontal position and then you can only pray that it works Nocht.
Edit November 7, 2010:
Use the keyboard now since 2 months every day for several hours -> until today without any problems!
I am also excited about the battery life. I have the keyboard to date have really only charge 3 times -.> And when used daily, approx 4 hrs / day for 2 months (in the mode "Automatic lighting adjustment").
Edit October 12, 2014
After 4 years of intensive use, I'm still very happy with the keyboard and would like to again point out explicitly in this update that one the keyboard battery - can replace - at least in my version of the keyboard!
Behind the battery cover on the back of the keyboard (the cover is relatively easy with a Philips screwdriver remove) hid with me two AA rechargeable batteries of EniTime (2000 mAh). You can take out a little fiddly job. This I recently replaced only by two new eneloop AA batteries per (2450 mAh), as the original batteries after 4 years of heavy use have become a little weak on the chest - although she might still continue to use.
Otherwise, after 4 years, no problems & absolute satisfaction with the keyboard.
