Customer Review

Europe on "War Of Kings" deploys a rather majestic atmosphere that spreads throughout an album that while evoking their influences, keeps a stamp of their own.
Influences from training that at the dawn of the 70's, have transformed the blues hard rock. The beginning of the album sets the tone, initiated by a royal "War Of Kings" dark and heavy, and hard and energetic "Hole In My Pocket" (two songs written by John Leven). The pieces by Michaeli cry sounded melodically, whether "Second Day", "Praise You", "Rainbow Bridge" or light "California 405" and heaviest "Children Of The Mind". They evoke in turn Led Zeppelin, with a vintage production and a remarkable bottom section / battery, or Deep Purple with a Hammond organ very present, or even (slightly) Black Sabbath riff with aggressive a "Nothin 'To Ya", co-written with John Norum. A tribute in some way to their "Days Of Rock 'n' Roll", an old piece of Joey Tempest (which is surely one of the best singers in hard activity). The other songs that guitarist participated evoke interventions lead guitars such as Michael Schenker (on the bluesy solo of "Light It Up"), and also the feeling of Gary Moore (especially in his blues period), on the slow "Angels" and the instrumental "Vasastan".
While evoking their influences, Europe with this "War Of Kings" plays a good achievement. In interpreting music that keeps their identity, from which emanates a tone quite class. A party that looks like anything but a failure.
