Advance - I was in the beta tester team - so I know the product as it is today, very well and have contributed as any other in this team also some changes (I am but of course not to blame for the things that now are perceived as not good but only for the positive changes responsible lol: D: D)
1) The most important advance (for a round-based strategy game with the appropriate clientele ...): It runs on "old devices" ... Say ... on my Intel dual core with 2GB RAM and 512MB graphics card. Namely, at the highest resolution, max. Details perfectly pleasant. Only in mega-battles with tens of units sometimes as you realize easily in the knee the old boy goes but that's manageable. One should, however, his system spendieren Win 7 or at least a neuereres Windows XP as ... as it was quite noticeably weaker in me ...
Bugs or crashes I could not find in my last games, I think that we have the beta advance already discovered a huge amount and can be eradicated.
2) It is 3D. Nice. That changes my opinion of the game really nothing. Stop is timely. Nothing more, nothing less - do not understand why so upset about a lot of old TBS purists.
3) Units are not always shown from now on as a single figure but are - if particularly powerful like a dragon just a single unit but in small groups as Longswordmen or Archers just a grouping that - as long as they take damage - accordingly (also graphically) deszimiert to also the last is dropped from the group.
This same technique was uadafür responsible, that some (not many) known from the grandiose predecessor special abilities like "grasp" - I do not know how it was in German, so that grasping the unit and hurled as it could, for example, the Roc, no longer there is simply because could not take and hurled an army a dragon ...
4) the aforementioned skills are still largely in place and has been extended by several GENIALE what was in my opinion one of the most important element of aowsm and selbiges to my favorite game of all time TBS made - and I know them all - really.
5) The level up of Heroes has become very cool - nothing totally new but still awesome. Each level up brings 5 points that can be freely distributed to tens of skills or attributes.
Even units now have the level up more than gold & silver medal. There are now 4 levels of ascension.
6) OK, now slowly it gets time also have a word about the races and classes to lose;)
So: As will be known in the art, there are 6 classes and 6 races - makes 36 Kombinierungsmöglichkeiten.
What I like today: The Elf Druids, or at least the Orc-Theocrat ...? Everything is possible! The variety is enormous precisely because so far this selection also affects what you can later researchen (Proverbs & creatures that you can build then - belongs properly, you can now to build creatures RESEARCHEN, ie to build a particular building in a city and can build from there to the creature in this city that you last ge-researched.)
Disadvantage of the whole affair: The biodiversity was compared to aowsm back quite significantly. This must call a drawback of the game is fair, how much the individual disturbs is a matter of taste.
All races produce very similar units only that is it then just "elven archer" rather than "human archer" - and of course some of the attributes and skills are somewhat different in each case but you can already speak of a strong restriction.
There are plenty of interesting units to summon or in new recruitment sites to produce such as the menhirs (sorts giant creatures) or the Dragon Peaks (Wyverns and Dragon) etc ...
7) mines and nodes: Is there still. It has the new principle of HoMM adapted 6, ie, a mine or node produced only for me when in my orbit - in other words - is in my domain. This saves the steal and reclaim these sites constantly - Again, a matter of taste which has a better liked. Personally, I think I would not have taken over from HoMM but it also does not bother me really.
8) but that bothers me: Flyers units no longer fly! at least not in the fight - so really;) Why, fly - but they end up at the destination ... where they can be attacked by everyone - even melee. One of the biggest criticisms and points of contention to Forum. you get used to it. But in the beginning it falls some hard to accept the flight units now just can no longer be used as strategically as before - neither in the tactical nor strategic map.
9) AI (or AI): The AI in combat is brilliant! Nothing there to complain about. The strategic AI on the world map, I can - despite nearly 100 hours of play - so still not properly evaluate, because this has been properly completed and just before the release and thus may have made a giant leap! But I can say that it is no worse than in other fantasy TBS games. And let's be honest: Who feels challenged because of AI's? The real fun of this game is still in MIT or against each other but not to gamble against the stupid computer ...
10) Last but not least: Graphics & Sound: Both top notch! especially the music is great and the graphics are jewelery and of course not state of the art but who expects that in a TBS? Absolutely definitely satisfying.
A great Tome of wonders, there is - quasi the clever book which Huey, Dewey and Louie always consulted when they no longer weiterwußten. Just click and search - it contains everything - all units with their attributes, skills, spells, general things to the game etc ... you name it.. An integrated AOWpedia speak. Only the calculation formulas to damage etc are not there I think) but you can learn if you want;)
As I said - I have long noted not all it could have mentioned (such as the new and very sophisticated "flanking" mechanism in the fight) but I Will not exaggerate in order not to burden some players ahead with too many details;)
I highly recommend this game any of the previous parts liked best conscience and of course all HoMM and warlords etc ... fans (if not actually eh should already know the AOW series ...)
It will take time to discover everything and that's all well and good that way.
