This review is about the 29EB93 I have added myself to having to play mainly anticipated and he is super suitable.
Screen size:
When one of 29Zoll (21: 9) speaks one thinks of a very big screen but that is not quite as it sounds to compared to a 27Zoll (16: 9), the surface of the screen is a little smaller
- 27Zoll LG E2750V (60x34cm screen surface) 2040cm2
- 29Zoll LG 29EB93 (67,5x28,5cm screen surface) 1924cm2
Here I have only the area taken using the monitor does not fill without the black border to monitor it. When the count so you can see actually the 27-inch monitor screen provides more than 29 inches. That was me before buying the monitor already clear that the surface is less than before but I felt only by the width.
Picture:
The image of 29EB93 is razor sharp and the colors are very vivid, but as with all that is just my opinion about the monitor. The whole compared with the Full HD 27Zoller (1920x1080) is of course due to the higher pixel density of 29Zoller (2560x1080) at an advantage.
Connections:
Up to VGA monitor offers everything you could possibly need
- HDMI (no cable included)
- MHL HDMI (cable is)
- DisplayPort (no cable included)
- DVI (cable is)
- USB (cable is) and 3Stk. USB 3.0 on the rear
- AC adapter is extra
- Boxes (cable is)
What else should be mentioned here is the one that 3Stk. USB as well as can not use on the back (it was the one taking an extension cord) to get the poorly ran it would have been better this to be mounted on the side.
Sound:
The boxes have been installed here are good but not the same as an external sound system.
Operation:
The menu is activated by touch buttons on the right bottom and precisely so that I have some problems because I have connected 2 PC to the monitor I have often times change the input (no automatic input detection) only sees the buttons do not, I have to always Fumble on the first button of the center and the sensor is still sensitive. The whole has been solved, in my view not good, pushbuttons would have been better in this case or the test on the front with a slight light thus they are found even in the dark.
The menu is very clear and described in the instruction booklet very well so no farther information from me here.
Games:
I tested the monitor with some games and is where the resolution support, it may be that is only drawn the picture in the wide and is no longer visible.
- Batlefield 3 image section is larger
- Guild Wars 2 image section is larger
- Reseident Evil 6 subject becomes larger (cut only when skills sale is the picture and you can see the amount of money not)
- Tomb Raider 2013 picture is not drawn into the broad view more
- Diablo 3 only supports Full HD, black border (when the edited file D3Prefs.txt can get the resolution of 2560x1080 also see comments)
- Skyrim can indeed show the resolution but it has the same problem as RE 6, the display of money and the comparison of the weapons will no longer appear so I can play the game only in Full HD.
Old games support this resolution not because I then play in Full HD with bars left and right.
Special features:
- Split Screen: is good for arranging windows but it works not currently using the DisplayPort. LG wrote on their side 'The Split Screen software works with Windows 7/8 and is not yet available for DisplayPort connections.'
The new Screen Split Software 6:23 has not changed anything yet.
- Dual Link-Up: is to see as well as 2 PC at the same time but this must be connected to the DisplayPort 1 unit. LG wrote on their side 'To use Dual Link-Up, a device must be connected via DisplayPort.'
The problem is currently that whom you want to run 2 PC with Dual Link-Up and Split Screen (once with split screen and even one the whole screen) does it not have the 1 PC depend on DisplayPort and there is no Screen Split. Hope that LG should the DisplayPort hinbekommt then also the function.
Conclusion:
A great monitor suitable for games but some weaknesses in the condition and the special functions therefore I give it 4 stars and a buy recommendation.
One more thing, there will be 2 versions of Monitor, which is one the Rev00 (old version) and the other the rev01 be (is back on the nameplate). In my case it was the rev01, and therefore the latest version and therefore I can not say what the difference is for Rev00. But read that you should send the Rev00 to LG and this is exchanged for a rev01 if that is true I can not say since I have a rev01.
** Update 06.27.2014 **
LG still has no new drivers for Windows Screen Split published the works with the DisplayPort.
I am after almost a year still happy with this monitor's see if the driver is time.
** Update 04.10.2015 **
As I read disabled Split Screen User Account Control of Windows, so who has installed the software should re-enable the User Account Control (Control Panel> System and Security> Action Center> Change Settings User Account Control)
