I must confess: I am disappointed. Exactly Björk would not have to happen, slipping into the meaninglessness of the postmodern patchwork. The only thing that calms me in such a way is that Björk has compiled with the "Drawing Restraint 9" yes "only" a film music album, the individual songs must also be placed in this context. To that effect must not be placed in a row with their studio solo albums this album. The problem that I have with this disc is not necessarily the musical quality of the songs that I really do not want to deny so many. My problem is the colorful assortment, which amounts to more of an arbitrary succession, whereby the far Björk typical sense of stylistic line loyalty is lost, which is especially evident in this non-end-ending Japanese duet. This may be of interest to ethnomusicologists with the appropriate knowledge of the cultural background, but in this pure form is this music in my eyes neither artistically meaningful, yet entertaining. What a duet with Tagaq still worked - here the arch was spans. This is a shame, but it was Björk for me always a positive cord sign that even in times of postmodern diversity devoid of meaning the sense of deep musical expression, innovative creativity without superficiality and especially artistic standards must not be lost. Not at all I want "dawing Restraint 9" deny its innovative character, by no means make his musical claim dispute. However, it lacks a certain rigor, which lifted to a new level the diverse musical influences on the album evolve a personal style to me. "Medulla", but especially "Homogenic" were milestones in this regard that a wide leap forward have Björk's musical development can make. And just after the groundbreaking last album my expectations were perhaps simply pushed too high. I will not deny that "Drawing Restraint 9" brings very great moments with him, so the almost a radio play resembling song "Storm" or spherically blurred "Bath" or the wonderfully quirky, imaginative composed and arranged the song "Hunter Vessel ". However, somehow not everything fits together harmoniously and results at the end of a motley crew indeed full of creativity, but without following a clear stylistic line. For these reasons, I can not recommend full conviction the album, with the restriction that a soundtrack always to a certain extent brings the issues with them. The best judge every man for himself. Here really does need.
