"Springsteen is such a thing as a sealing Garage If I hear him I mist in rain-soaked streets in mind;. Lovers holding each other's hands;. Gleam in his eyes and dirt under his fingernails"
From: Prozac Nation
Springsteen, this name stands for many kinds of honest music. For me at least it's what I find attractive repeatedly Springsteen: The fact that he (free after Biermann quote) "always remained true by changed" from album to album, yet never lost his own voice and never made a really bad plate has (Okay: Human Touch Lucky Town & also do not belong to my favorite CD's, but they also have their good tracks.)
Although the first successful Springsteen album in 1975 (Born to Run) appeared, it took 20 years until the first best-of collection was released - in Springsteen's case she was baptized "Greatest Hits".
In fact, there are then "only" the largest or greatest hits. For a compilation of the best would contain more of The River, more from Born to Run or Nebraska; it would take a total of more space than a CD. Still I find it a pity that the melancholic and poetic side was placed back on Springsteen here.
But still: This album has saved me more than once that night or the mood. Thank Springsteen - you're the boss.
Last ie: A shot of melancholy:
I had a job, I had a girl
I had something going mister in this world
I got laid off down at the lumber yard
Our love went bad, times got hard
Now I work down at the Carwash
Where all it ever does is rain
Do not you feel like you're a rider on a downbound train
