Isolate and Medicate (Deluxe Edition) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Well then, on a new one. After my reviews on "Holding Onto Strings Better Left to Fray" and "Seether 2002 - 2013" So now the third Seether review in league. Will certainly use this time to be back so that the bother and feels attacked one or the other in mind. But is unnecessary. Because as well as in previous reviews - in particular to "Holding Onto Strings Better Left to Fray" - I'm talking about actually only the totally obvious. Things that you should notice any outsiders immediately. And certainly anyone who "accompanied" the whole band history. In "Holding Onto Strings Better Left to Fray" it was the fact that most of the songs on the album were just so so slow, lengthy and softened, that one of my favorite bands in the presence of threatened inexorably disappearing into the gates of the woodwork.

In order to make it short ...

Well, just in time so got things right, Seether. Well, so ne slight curve. Far away from the U-Turn. But at least one curve. With "isolates and Medicate" have delivered the three a pretty decent album. Yes exactly. Pretty neat. Three stars, fits. Far from being bad. But not the bombastic outburst, I would have liked. What is even more important - I would have indulged in the band. The band would have taken.

To make it long ...

I have me something new thinking. Did namely has often here at Amazon seen that some customers make the effort, chronologically evaluate each song the album accordingly. Well then. Turn your left mouse button before ready for clicking "No" when it comes to the question "Was this review helpful to you?"

1. See You At The Bottom - 4 out of 5 stars
Very solid song. Find the entry a bit bad mixed as far as the ratio guitar and drums. Fairly Good opener. Has its fourth star above all the fat Main Reef that particularly comes to the line of text "See you at the Bottom", thanks to the not ordinary sounding, playful guitar Gefiedele during the verses and the rough riff as a substitute for the solo.

2. Same Damn Life - 1 of 5 stars
Interesting phenomenon. Suddenly the high head voice is detected and the same as rough inflationary thrown on the new album that this stylistic device occurs in fewer than five songs. With "Same Damn Life" is to bring nothing. The verse sounds like Weether. A new made-up word, what just occurred to me spontaneously. Therefore Mumpft like a mix of Weezer and Seether. And all of this. In combination with the above-mentioned head voice, a polyphonic singing here and there and the classic riff from Nirvana Breed as filler

3. Words As Weapons - 2 out of 5 stars
Joa. Solid stanza. The rest - especially the chorus - sounds rough tortured. Not in the positive. Not as far as the lyrical content. But simply in the sense of "exhausting". You mix that with the classic Teen Spirit drums Gedresche and a bad copy of "Mad World" vocal line and out comes a song like "Words as Weapons".

4. My Disaster - 3 out of 5 stars
You see, it's possible. Here we have the way Numero Two of inflationary falsetto-use. But in addition, I look with a half-closed ear - yes, that goes well with your ears - happy time. If not part of the chorus would like already come so hard over at "Words as Weapons," I would have also four star jump. Fetter reef. The stuck at the end.

5. Crash - 1 of 5 stars
Welcome to "Holding Onto Strings Better Left to Fray". Oh no, we are here yes at "isolates and Medicate". Had super fitted on the former album. Income, long-winded and softened. And I know God nothing against peaceful, supporting songs. And nothing against the further development - a word that is constantly brought as an excuse here. For real. In earnest. I love quiet and supporting songs. But then you have the hammer out correct. "Crash" is a musical accident in the truest sense of the word.

6. Suffer It All - 4 out of 5 stars
I won. Since slumbers there still ne rough portion Seether. The Intro and Main Reef remember na still a bit of Volbeat. Not bad. But worth mentioning. The verses are distinguished by a heavily plodding guitar part. Here and there a pinch double bass drum, a refrain with some catchy and potential - you can not miss on this album every other song - inflationary falsetto-use for third parties.

7. Watch Me Drown - 3 out of 5 stars
The verse has really a great vocal line. Very nicely done. Earwig. Unfortunately Seether have somehow forgotten the chorus. The thing that is followed by the verse, has earned the maximum designation Bridge. Ne good Brige. No question. But unfortunately only ne precisely Bridge. Mumpfiges interlude included. In addition, I mean listening to the album for the fourth time the inflationary falsetto-use. Although only at the end. And also a bit different than usual. But somehow there. From the song could have been done more real.

8. Nobody Praying For Me - 5 out of 5 stars
Best song on the album. Point. The single note entry. The deep voice during the verse. The second vote in the background. Absolute catchy chorus. Nice simple solo that puts several lanes on the guitar riff. The same single note exit as the intro. Ne-rounded. This song simply everything from the first until the last second.

9. Keep The Dogs At Bay - 2 out of 5 stars
Promising entry. Just as you could wish for Seether. Unfortunately, that's about the best part of the song. The verse is pretty neat, but what followed as a chorus, is very bumpy. Also of the lyrics. Just not around. Since the flow is missing. If you as a musician does not feel the, you should worry about. Device everything quickly forgotten.

10. Save Tonight - 2 out of 5 stars
Inflationary falsetto insert the Fifth. But hey, it finally re ne acoustic guitar. If we imagine the first few seconds. If the boys namely quite well. Did they indeed made more than demonstrated with "One Cold Night". "Save Tonight" unfortunately ripples a little to himself. If so how come exactly "Keep The Dogs At Bay" quickly forgotten.

The bonus tracks

I will not be included in my rating of the album. Had they left out that would have made the album neither better nor worse. Jacke wie Hose. Although actually speaks against the songs. A compliment does at least look different. Okay, Stop the gibberish. They are completely unnecessary.

Conclusion ...

Turns out quite short. I would hope that the guys put on the next album again ne ordinary shovel it in terms of songwriting. I am unhappy with it, praising the development of "Holding Onto Strings Better Left to Fray" to "isolates and Medicate". Because soft flushed as erstgenanntes album did not go. And the word "development" in all the effusive reviews I can no longer hear. Sounds to me just for an excuse. After a compulsive reader and appeasement of the own musical ear. But after the three have a better album than its predecessor delivered. That's quite something.
