A desire for truth (Paperback)

Customer Review

"The image of a person rarely corresponds to the reality, especially when the media by force to shape it as they please ..." dixit Mrs. Attias (page 13) .. Indeed. This is another Cécilia that we discover in this book, a woman far from the formatted image we had done. I find writing both very classy, simple and loaded with emotions. And yet, I have not finished the book yet. I admit that I flew over the chapters on politics, Bercy and the Elysee .. These aspects do not interest me there really. I found the chapters on his childhood, his adolescence, motherhood, and especially his new life in New York much more exciting. Is it a coincidence that these are also the happiest periods of his life?

You still have to stress that those who expect sensationalism and unexpected revelations will be disappointed. Cecilia Attias demonstrated great restraint throughout his autobiography, which gives the impression of a story sometimes a bit superficial and largely watered down. but I do not think his goal was to cry in the cottages by misplaced confidence, she just wanted to hear his voice that was almost a non-existent throughout the duration of LAscension Nicolas Sarkozy of power and even after .. So we read all about this mysterious woman never even remotely approaching his true personality. Especially since she chose to leave (permanently?) France without deliver this truth. This book helps put things in their proper place.

Finally, I must say that I greatly admire Cecilia Attias in the woman she has become. The one who has decided to live his life and assume his choices. She chose to live in NY does not surprise me .. It is a city so avant-garde for its modernity, culture and cosmopolitan character. It is a modern woman, determined and contrary to what it says in this book where she constantly question itself, I think it takes a lot of self-confidence and strength of character to take as it did. I hope that at his age I will be as strong and determined it.

I also agree with his final conclusion she makes a diagnosis very fair on the status of France (its strengths and weaknesses ..) To cite a few passages .. "My country, once flamboyant turned gray and dull ... "" the French lost their joy of life, they show aggressive towards each other (page 292) "I am well placed to know that in France, when someone leaves the head the mass must cut it off "(page 294) etc ... Our country takes a bit for his rank but must acknowledge it was unfortunately right. This is all the more disturbing that s' is an outsider, coming from a country that also faces the crisis (with more violence), but also knows how to find the human and material resources to get by. I often go to the USA and I am always amazed by the good mood, will, maturity and determination of the American despite all the crises they can cross. I had a little puff the book at the bookseller before purchasing it and it is also this very just conclusion prompted me to make the purchase.

In summary, it belongs to everyone to have their own opinion but this book was worth to be written ..
