After the first listen I was not as thrilled, but after the third time me this Silberling has really gripped. The songs take time to unfold fully. They are by no means very catchy.
Noteworthy is especially Siobhan Donaghy voice that makes them so some pieces to true tremolo monsters. Respect for such a performance!
Is to say anticipation that there is not a single non-starter on the entire album. The songs captivate all and give the album a good flow. I would like to highlight the gentle "There's A Place", the jazzy "Sometimes", the word funny and something held in Oldstyle "12 Bar Acid Blues", the daramtische "Medevac" (for me the highlight of the plate) and the conciliatory "Halcyon Days'. My ears took a little longer to really appreciate the theme song "Ghosts".
The lyrics are very diverse to despair to complacency, which I would have liked a bit more depth at times. Although none of the texts is really shallow, precise one would have in some texts can be already, so it does not work quite as stylized in some places. However, it does not detract from the matter. The plate acts still produces very pompous and costly even after several passes.
As so often is the normal handset withheld tracks and iTunes pushed in the ass. This is especially annoying because "Man On A Mission" and "re-offend" would definitely be able to find a place on this album. The second option is more of a kind of interlude, while the former comes dreamy darkly beautiful. The two B-sides of singles ("Givin 'In" and "Do not Take Me Back") are two solid tracks. Who loves the album and it has not yet, they should purchase.
Similar pompous like the music the artwork comes in which Siobhan shows with huge mane. I like very well, although sometimes lack the final touch.
Despite small criticisms a consistently good album that has earned five stars. Unfortunately, it is currently for bad sales unsigned since and has no plans to record a new album. That's more than a shame, because she has talent really more than enough with their young years!
