I purchased the camera now four weeks ago on Amazon, what was going on in his usual rapid fashion. I decided after studying numerous tests (other cameras (Lumix, Nikon, Sony), as this has not been tested) and of local reviews, not initially were positive for this camera, yet for the SX30 IS. Helpful to me were also shown on YouTube Home Videos to the various cameras. The camera itself was, as one would expect, reasonably packed. The Canon PowerShot SX30 IS serves me as a pure amateur camera. As a storage medium I use a Transcend 8GB Extreme Speed SDHC Memory Card Class 10 (20MB / s). The recordings were made by now abundantly an absolutely positive surprise for me, especially since I attach particular importance to the zoom range which allows especially when taking pictures of animals great pictures, without having to first have to change the lens. Since I am not a professional, surprised me in particular how little light the fully extended zoom "swallows". My old (!!) SLR can not keep up, what will see pros certainly different since. Due to the portability and weight (should not weigh more) they can still easily take on walks. I was impressed also the image stabilizer, which causes good results even without a tripod. Especially when photographing the fish pond (see photos set the Koi) shows quality. I've placed no special emphasis on the swiveling display, but have to say that this is a helpful addition in practice. I feel that after the battery lasts very long.
This PDF manual is clearly laid out, however, provides printing for users of inkjet printers because of the volume already a challenge. If you want to criticize, then I would do it here, there is now provided that the possibly even older users an PC has. Regarding the environment, I personally find it okay, if one considers the mass saved paper. Since I am a friend of learning-by-doing method rather, I have worked my sting mainly on the PC through the manual. The operation of the camera is not always self-explanatory, but does not detract from the positive overall impression. The amateur photographer will nevertheless find their way quickly. The menu is similar to the camera and allows a manual adjustment and setting preferences. The video function I've used little and only used for photographing of pond fish, but that was quite appealing here. The zoom lens is not conspicuous loudly throughout the film. The viewfinder like you feel as small, but that is a subjective point of view, there probably more emphasis was placed on the swiveling display. Lightning I have not used, so therefore can not give an opinion on its quality.
In summary, to say I am absolutely delighted with the all-round capabilities of the camera and its zoom range and would buy them immediately. The possibilities with this Canon boasts, you should have at your fingertips. Stocking the camera is level, the zoom lens. The included software is sufficient for the hobbyists and allows image editing.
Haptics conveys quality impression, weight still in the frame, lens versatile and positively surprising (macro telephoto), rotatable display quite large - viewfinder rather small, handling battery performance well (lithium-ion battery), operation is due to the compact size in order, for the most part simple, but not always intuitive, image quality in my opinion excellent video quality is good, manual requires PC or printing, flash untested.
The camera fits their needs and is, after its launch in September 2010, said the end of 2010 by Amazon price definitely worth it!
