We have indeed entitled not only to proceedings of the Royal Chronicler, Lord Verniers Alishe Someren, who had accompanied us during "Blood Song" but also from the standpoint of the Sister of the King of the Kingdom Unified Marcus, Princess Lyrna , that of Brother Frentis of Vaelin and a new character, Reva, which introduces a touch of freshness in our history.
It must indeed point out that this novel mainly tells the invasion of the Kingdom by the Empire Unified Volarian slavery. You will find so many pieces of war, assassinations and massacres, you can be warned!
Chronic Verniers Lord are tragically comic, imagine a historian scholar who never really suffered from anything in his life, bombarded official hagiographer of general jurisdiction Volarian ready to torture him at the slightest misstep.
Finally, we shall find the lost brother, Frentis, so Jackie Chan medieval who has spent the past five years to fight as a gladiator and achieve unparalleled martial level. Secured by a magical bond that was literally burned over her body, Frentis finds himself against his will associated with a mysterious woman whose powers related to "Dark" are considerable.
The Frentis warrior perfection actually a character without interest, against the illusions of his "mistress" are quite promising.
The Adventures of Princess Lyrna are rather interesting, especially since they breathe a little humanity in a character who appeared strong cold. However a note of Princess suggests recent evolution of his character.
A character that emerges soaked in an unusual race in chains of slavery.
As for the new character Reva, girl indoctrinated to murder Vaelin, I am a little mixed. While his career is confused and therefore interesting, the fact that it must fight against insider early indoctrination is original in Fantasy.
But what is difficult is its level of excellence in all weapons without a rite of passage such as Frentis or Vaelin is invoked. This makes the characters whose perfection is pretty boring.
Vaelin rest, I find that the author has managed to make a paternalistic figure, returned everything and desperate to avoid suffering.
Of course, this will not be possible, at least in this volume which accumulates the suffering.
It is to conclude a complex book, too, in my opinion, to be preceded by a Blood Song playback The Voice T1 blood to navigate the vast gallery of characters.
This book also simply lack an objective, which was the strength of the first. So yes battles are beautiful, often woven characters, but for what?
Yet the author's talent is there, no doubt it will rely on Anthony Ryan, the only question being whether it will create immortal works or not ...
