The graphics ... (3.9 / 5 stars)
... Is solid and still good but not what rips your socks off. But it is enough to convey the colorful lines and the good sense of speed. Here and there some nice neon, verwisch- or explosion effects. The sliders and the tracks are quite OK modeled, but the textures and the low standard definition of PS2 are a bit boring (but probably better than on the PSP). Rarely a small Slowdown.
The artistic "style" ... (3.5 / 5 stars)
... Is really good, but sometimes a bit too sterile. Here I miss somehow the bleachers and the "race Vera Stall Tung" - Feeling. "Hello? I'm just become first! Where is the cheering of the audience ?!" It's pretty unemotional except the AI opponents and traveling alone, as on a highway. This was solved in part 1 and 2 much better and more lively. Especially great are still graphically altered routes in TRON / neon look.
The sound and music ... (4/5 stars)
... Is good overall. Sound effects are very good become. Have explosions and gunfire properly BUMs on bass and fit perfectly with the game. A bit annoying that "Borg-Robo" voices of announcers. As is known, makes the music in every Wipeout from 50% of the gaming experience. Here the track selection is varied and good nor. But I lack the proper blast from the electro breakbeat range as in the first wipeouts. Tracks by Plump Djs I have missed most.

... Is short and well accustomed said curtly. Little minus, no own key assignment.

Conclusion / game ... (4/5 stars)
... Overall good nor. Beautiful gliders and routes designs make you want more and motivate one to hit the next level. The sense of speed is good and making progress in the music mood. But opponents have become more aggressive compared to PS1 times and gnaw at the enormous energy bar. Here I will be either the first or only come not at all because explodes! At that time, the racing / combat ratio 70/30 was here it's almost 50/50! For me, the game almost falls into a shooter category and not racing game. But you get used to after few laps on it. The routes are somehow fallen short, I'm not really sure, but get the feeling that they "time" were longer. The race is only 2 minutes to the end ... and then the loading time of a minute felt not sparkling. What I really miss is as I said the "race Vera Stall Tung Feeling", one fights like an ox to the first place and in the end you no reward with cheers and "fame" ;-)
Despite these minor drawbacks to the game's been good and can mean jealousy and thirst for Wipeout (HD) silent. I would Playful settle it between Wipeout 2097 and Wipeout 3. For fans a buy recommendation from me!
