With a heart of gold to new musical shores

When the Dire Straits in 1995 parted, I was very disappointed because this band was among one of my favorite bands. So I also have huge looking forward a year later it than the first solo album by Mark Knopfler - Golden Heart - stood on the shelves of music stores. My initial joy about the new album but vanished after the first hearing because the 14 new songs, unfortunately, were unable to fulfill my great expectations, to link seamlessly to the Dire Straits era. Since the music really had no more in common much with Dire Straits, and also so well were like no distinctive rock guitar riffs more on the album, and Knopfler's guitar playing only in some places and in some songs like -, Imelda, No Can Do Do not You Get It, and Rüdiger - dominant aufblitze, wandered - Golden Heart - first once a very long time in my CD shelf unheard.

Only four years later with the release of their second album - Sailing To Philadelphia - an album that contained a number of titles that quite on the last Dire Straits disc - On Every Street - would have to be published, I rummaged - Golden Heart - reproduced, and heard it with completely different ears. Suddenly I realized not only the heat but also the musical depth and positive well-being, radiating these 14 different songs on the album have a total running time of 70 minutes. Only now I heard the hidden details of the music, and the great, albeit more subtle in some places guitar Knopfler, and annoyed me a little that I have not heard this album as good as ever in the first four years.

Golden Heart - is an excellent album, on the Mark Knopfler can fuse together to 14 timelessly beautiful and varied songs known folkloric elements of his previous film soundtracks, some Dire Straits related guitar riffs and his individual musical class. Golden Heart - but is also an album that showed me once again how wrong it is when you in advance has certain expectations, and raised the bar this puts so high that a new album from the outset no chance at all has to meet these and thereby the actual musical quality remains undiscovered forever.
