With lubricant renewal very well

Caveat: I am not a professional photographer, but have recently begun with spherical panoramas for virtual tours as part of web development. This panoramic head is therefore my first and I can not draw any conclusions about similar products. I use the MRP 401 on my "Vanguard Alta Pro 263AGH tripod" and currently a Canon 500D with battery grip (even during the spherical panoramas) and an 8mm fisheye Rokinon.

## First Impression
The first impression was very positive. The panoramic head comes in a padded metal suitcase that is neither high nor cheap. I do not think I'm going to use it at all, because it is a good deal larger than the folded head.

## Construction and equipment

## Functionality
The turntable of the panorama head has a 360 ° scale is marked in 5 ° increments and labeled in 15 ° increments. One can control the position of a separate label on the upper counterpart of the turntable. In my view, the position selbiger mark is quite inconveniently located as it is on the opposite side to the fixing screw or on the lens side. This one has always to the tripod and building bend / move to make it read exactly as the fixation usually from behind the camera (where the fixing screw is) is operated. Considering that spherical panoramas are a common application form I would have rather have liked a dedicated 90 ° ratchet setting here, but of course I knew it beforehand and of course I can also take the 15 ° ratchet setting and count to 6.

## Quality
All used screws, rails and the turntable have a very high quality and durable, in my view, there are at this point nothing to complain about. Were it but just not the problem already described in other reviews with the lubricant. The grease used ensures that the camera can only move quite cumbersome on the turntable. This is partly the extent that tend to smoother surfaces such as tiles or parquet floor, the tripod can slip if you are not careful. Of course, the effect increases the closer the tripod legs lie (to leave a footprint as small as possible).
The poor quality of the lubricant also ensures that the spring mechanism in the grid bolt does not work properly, so that they function correctly (and I mean completely) deleted; it is not to hear a click can be felt a catch.
It can be in spite of this lack work with the head, but I have preferred to build his head apart, remove the old grease and the affected parts to lubricate new. An illustrated guide of the process, as I have done it, you see the customer images.
Following the cleaning and lubrication of the head literally went "smoothly", even if the click mechanism could be pronounced, so you can use it really effectively (at least for me so, one probably has someone else still done better). I can feel and hear it, but leave me he prefers to the sighting mark, especially since I was able to determine a variable deviation of 0.5-2.5 ° to mark stamped at the stops.

## Conclusion
If you're willing to get your hands a little dirty, I can recommend the head exactly with this limitation. Were not present, the lubricant problem, me the product would have been worth 5/5 stars. On delivery, there are well-intentioned 4 stars, rather 3.5. With my lubrication I would give 4.5, a professional as I would have expected from Rollei, might well have reached 5/5.

Addendum regarding lubrication.:
For manual lubrication (incl. Disassembly, cleaning, lubrication, assembly) should be about 1 hour schedule, if you bring some skill. I have for Entferung the previous lubricant "Lösol 80 special petrol company Kluthe GmbH" (box, as known from thinners) and for lubrication "MoS2 graphite lubricant" of Nigrin used for spraying. The oil lubricant is compared with the fat of course significantly "more flexible", so we use it sparingly so that it is not a vollsuppt everything. But it was not a problem.
