Pat Metheny and Charlie Haden have known each other since 1973 and for many years they had been talking about a duo project. 1997 finally came to and come out with a CD full of beautiful music of two romantics who have sought and found. Both are from the Midwestern United States - Missouri. Both are - before they joined the Jazz - grew up with the typical for their area music. These early impressions and the song material from that time they have processed on this CD. They complemented this material to their own compositions and a song from Charlie's son Josh. Charlie plays - as always - his acoustic bass, and Pat plays mostly acoustic guitar. About half of the material was subsequently supplemented by an additional guitar part. My personal favorites are "Message to a Friend" (by Pats words in thoughts of Charlie emerged), Charlie's "First Song (for Ruth)" [his wife], Jim Webb's "The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress," Johnny Mandel's "The Moon Song ", Andrea Morricone's" Cinema Paradiso (Love Theme) "and Josh Haden's" Spiritual ". A CD that can be abused as a background music or to relax, one should give his undivided attention but quiet once. Not recommended if you just already gives itself in melancholy mood his Weltschmerz! Simply beautiful music - in the best sense! And you have to be a jazz fan, to find pleasure in it.
