Wonderful ... in January 78

Six years after the departure of Tarja, Nightwish released the second studio album with Anette singing. And not just any album since already, it is a concept album that tells the story of an old man who believes he is still young ... Damn, it reminds me of "Dead Boy's Poem"! Ambitious project, this album because besides being a concept album, a feature related to the history of the album should be released in 2012. An ambitious project.

Ambitious but very successful: indeed, Imaginaerum is very well composed to begin with, a nice introduction in Finland, and, finally, an orchestral finding more than successful who gets most of the themes of the album. The orchestra, very present, is perfectly integrated with music, with choirs from time to time. Let us see all this in detail:

1- Taikatalvi intro, sung by Marco in Finnish, is calm, composed, and brings the theme of Imaginaerum by chaining on a beautiful track:

Storytime 2- or story time, is the first single from the album, and he has enough ... This is a very good piece, where the song Anette sounds again, with a beautiful melody. The video consists of images of the shooting of the film (of course Imaginaerum).

3- On Ghost River, we find the song of Marco, quite aggressive but still very good, and a choir. I really like.

4- We arrive at the piece that surprised me the most, Slow, Love, Slow. We begin by hearing a beautiful piano melody, and then ... jazz? Yes. Nightwish risk taker, and one can only admire the result. I can listen to several times before to enjoy it, because it is enough to hear a particular song to jazz paces from Nightwish. But the beautiful voice of Anette takes us far away ... slow ...

5 Here we find the Celtic origins of the group! One piece that does not contain an orchestra, I Want My Tears Back starts strong and contains the Irish bagpipes! Catchy refrain, verse too, and beautiful solo, I Want My Tears Back is definitely my favorite song on the album! It might well have come out as a single.

6- Scaretale ... a track that tells all the nightmares that a child can have. Particular song, the song Anette's risky, but very successful. He puts in the mood nightmares and Marco even drives the nail with a strange song. Original, successful, Scaretale must be very beautiful concert, and connects well to the next song.

7- Arebesque, on the eastern side, is the first instrumental track, with a course choir. She does very well film music (this is surely not a coincidence).

8- Ahhh! Magnificent. Simply. I love this piece, quiet, relaxing and beautiful. It is clear that Nightwish Anette had not chosen at random. His voice is magical on Turn Loose the Mermaids, where one recognizes a western music (whistles) at times. In short, a perfect piece.

9- We attack Rest Calm now. 7 minutes. Beautiful introduction, it starts heavy include electric guitar set aside on the previous track. And it feels good. There is also the song of Marco followed by Anette, all is beautiful.

10- The Crow, the Owl and the Dove, the second single from the album. We quickly see that they have made a very good choice. Acoustic guitar and electric, Irish flute, beautiful duet Marco / Anette, this title is nice, quiet, but powerful, towards the end. Very nice piece.

11- Last Ride of the Day will be the third single from the album. After this wonderful intro, Anette starts to sing softly before rampage! This piece is one of my favorites, with I Want My Tears Back and Turn Loose the Mermaids.

12- As with almost all their albums, a much longer piece than the others, which could have been cut in half. We feel that the storm is brewing from the beginning, with choirs and singing Anette. And then, quiet mix (vocals), and puisance (music). Then the calm after the storm, a poem is read, for 6 minutes. The end of the song is so relaxing, before closing the album with one last piece:

13- The title track of the album is instrumental (or Putôt orchestral). Imaginaerum takes up the main themes of the album, such as Storytime, I Want My Tears Back, Rest Calm ... and mix well by making a coherent whole to close the album.

Once again, Nightwish signed a pure masterpiece with this album, which therefore worth the four year wait for Dark Passion Play. Imaginaerum is also released in instrumental, and orchestral version on Tour Edition. The film, meanwhile, should be out in late 2012. In the meantime, I listen to this album without getting bored.
