"Little Piece of Dixie" is for me the best BBS Album, "Whippoorwill" was still good but no longer excited me like this. So now "holding all the Roses" ... Yes, it is the weakest album of the band ... no, I do not think that it has all the "1 Star rating" earned (at all disappointing). Yes, it is not well-produced, sounds much too smooth, center, undifferentiated (O'Brian was therefore not a good choice ... apart from the need to be a real player in many numbers then even guitar or piano - so as if BBS no guitarist - even two - or no man at the keys). Yes, you do not hear often Hammond. But apart from the production, I find the songs (including the lyrics, listen to the possibly times) overall quite ok (worse than on "Little Piece of Dixie", a total inferior to "Whippoorwill", but the one or other rivals that one or another older song of the band). The arrangements fit and unlike other reviews I hear quite often the polyphonic singing (though not as much as I would wish it to me).
One star deduction for the production, a star deduction for the somewhat weaker average songs.
Or vice versa: A star for what the guys play (some instrumental parts are just fine), a star still for songs and a star for the whole package BBS (including cover of the CD).
