Former professional and owner of a Canon 1D mark3, I had to have a second device (smaller, completely silent, having greater sensitivity, sufficient optical-zoom to paper 50x60, multiple functions-sport-night- etc ... the possibilities shooting type NB, sepia ... no interest, given that the work is done on the computer.
I went to the X30, having a damaged X20 (not waterproof, however the X30 also is not waterproof, and it is not its function). the rear panel is simplified compared to the X20, which is not bad.
I regret the look of the X20, with its little retro, but hey, some additional benefits of X 30, tilting screen (which allows shooting at arm)
The second regret, the information folder of X30 is too short, not enough detail to better identify opportunities especially for a beginner.
I use it for theater scenes (with agreement from stakeholders to photograph), or the concern is not to disturb the audience, the X30 works wonders in his senses, we can disconnect the screen and keep only the Viewfinder .

The new battery allows approximately 400 shots.
