The medieval japan portrayed by Thomas Day, borrowing fantastic and phantasmagorical elements, is very close reflection of reality through the use of a specific vocabulary, real and deep-rooted traditions, rituals etc ... while integrating a real and significant part of fiction and fantasy. A traditional poetry of Japanese culture, therefore add here several narrative son very removed, a sense of action and felt good description and numerous stylistic references to Asian movies from Hong Kong. One can easily imagine many battles unfold like the brilliantly orchestrated choreographies in these films there, which is also assumed by the author in the list of references at the end of the book (books, filmography etc ...) . In short narrative rather efficient and pleasant written like a visual camera.
Also this novel is not intended for fanatics of historical realism but rather to fans of Japanese culture and médfan. I personally enjoyed doing separate things and was later disappointed with volume 2 that lacks the quality of this first game.
A counselor just for fun or as a light and fantastic introduction to a broader and realistic discover life Musashi and Japan in general.
