Beautiful Curse (Audio CD)

Customer Review

And that - that at least as far as I am concerned - not only at the right time, but also with an excellent rock and roll album. After the two excellent albums "Well Oiled" and "Homewreckers And Heartbreakers" I had the band unfortunately lost some sight of what has changed, fortunately, again with the release of "Beautiful Curse". The music and the albums from Quireboys always manages to lift my mood immediately. Of this is "Beautiful Curse" does not out, but can with old freshness even go one better.

Goods in Reunion before more than a decade at least still 3/5 of the original cast with it, are of this in "Beautiful Curse" only singer Spike and guitarist Guy Griffin left. However, the sound and the songs does this not detract. It is handmade, unpretentious but excellent rock-honored British traits. Musically, the Quireboys still hold on between Rolling Stones, Faces, and Mott The Hoople. I mean, but this time to be able to perceive a few reminiscences of a band like Grand Funk Railroad. In particular, I'm doing this very strongly that sometimes can be heard instead of the typical Quireboys honky-tonk piano sound of an organ or Clavinets which penetrates subtly by a warm, bluesy sound overall. Both instruments fit, just like the piano well into the marked by R & B songs a.

The album consists mainly of rock n'rolligen blues rock pieces together, of which I am best in the opening track "Too Much Of A Good Thing" ("Honky Tonk Woman" says hello), the rich "Chain Smokin '", and " Homewreckers & Heartbreakers ", a casual and great blues rocker with edged riffs like. "For crying out loud," however, is a bit faster, of piano-driven, rock N'Roller who might look good on "A Bit Of What You Fancy" in my opinion also. The swinging "Dirty Diamonds And Stones" surprises with an off-beat, and "I Died Laughing" is a relaxed rocker with a slight reggae flair. Music is still trumps at the Quireboys. The guitars shake casual riffs and licks quite loose from his sleeve, but it is not only rocked, but for example with the somewhat sleepy "Talk Of The Town", or the quiet "Do not Fight" It also quieter and balladry tackled.

The sound is still nearly as pure and unadulterated as that of AC / DC, but this time much more rustic. Not only the songwriting, but also the natural sound make it appear as if the music of the Quireboys was straight from the 1970's beamed in 2013. It sounds fresh, strong and unspent, but also a little dusty. As a valuable antique that has been gathering dust in a roof truss, and just waiting to be discovered. The production of Chris Tsangarides (Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy) underscores in my view the best of the band and I like really very well. So rock music can sound in the 21st century. No, I correct myself: so rock music should be easy even sound nowadays.
