This album is just like its predecessor for me an absolute disappointment. The songs sound all to absolute mush with a very similar melody. What but for me personally the worst is: From the first to the last track runs through the album an incredibly pseudo -philosophische word choice (!). One gets the impression that the Count had rummaged in a box with as profound acting phrases and then all lined up one behind the other, according to the motto: The more the better. The real depth with lyrics that get under your skin completely remains on track. This makes for me the strange discrepancy in the album: the lyrics will appear on the one hand by their choice of words at first glance very pathetic and wannabe wehmühtig but falls while listening to the songs and when viewing the lyrics on that because just behind it nothing really Profound. Phrases, platitudes, empty formulations - none of which go but under the skin. One song after another can be blare as background music in front of him, - it does not bother. But that's about it.
Between light and shadow is for example only from nichtssagendem strumming without catchy melody, wisdom of life is likely the old fans then to shake of the head, or even make you laugh, because here a new content and musical low point has been reached. Also lucky for life is of such an insignificance that it could easily be used in any RTL2 preview as background music when long-lost family members lying in the arms and mom at home irons clothes in front of the TV.
The only saving grace for me is dropping down to one. To make and listen to eye: Both text and melody have potential and have touched me. That's about it already.
Overall it can be said: The album is intended for an audience that is satisfied with exactly the kind of texts and melodies as they were already to be found on the last Unheilig album. The experiments with gold rush yet to do something for the old fans, is assigned Liebesmüh. Who but the city lights has already been made, which can access here calms. I myself feel Gipfelstürmer unfortunately as yet fader and more bloodless than the predecessor. Anyone looking for something that really gets under your skin, which brings real emotion to think and respond, which had fallen to older albums.
I wondered whether the count - when he has held this final product in the hands was not even shocked at what he has delivered since and is at what shallowness and pettiness drifted his band. It's really a pity about an artist who incredibly has a lot of potential that you really want to cry when you see what has become of it.
My conclusion is: In the end, it's good that it's over and Unholy not produce more albums. Is the motto We should stop when it is at its most beautiful? fulfilled? In my opinion, no. The zenith of this exceptional band has long been exceeded. Maybe not in terms of their commercial success, but in terms of artistic achievement, unfortunately for quite a while.
