After the very moderate plastic acting MFT lenses the 2.0 / 12mm looks finally as Zuiko and summarizes also so on.
Because Zuiko stands for more than 50 years for the best Japanese lenses.
For me, such a lens would have, as well as the 1.8 / 45 mm to appear simultaneously with the pen 1,
but Olympus wanted and had to conquer with inexpensive Allerweltsobjektiven a market ...
which lasted luckily just 2 years.
12 mm and 45 mm are for me the most important focal lengths, which I always need (24 & 90 mm KB)
and in the light intensity and compactness and processing them are perfect.
Although again like theorists complain that they should show yes twice as much depth of field
as usual - in practice, this is almost meaningless and thus not correct.
In addition, more depth of field also does the most good motives
and for the googly eyes-portraits and the water drops on the flower I can use the 0.95 / 25 mm!
I find dimensions and processing and feel perfect - very nice and the manual focus feel.
Here, Olympus was inspired by Pentax, by pulling back the focus ring can be immediately and very emotional focus manually!
It erinnerts me very much of the three sensational Limited lenses from Pentax (31 mm, 43 mm and 77 mm - you I had).
Unfortunately, the aperture ring lacks.
Mechanically, the most unfortunately never return - but it should perhaps at least a slider or a button to the lens, which can be programmed,
so that you can with the left hand, either the panel or the AF (S-AF or C-AF) or choose anderses faster!
To be embarrassed OLYMPUS However, the absence of the sun visor !!!
Even Given the price, it is awkward and covered this offer as an option.
(Mitliefern A sun visor duty for any discerning lens designer!).
The cover should be able to access from the inside and not be so cheap China-snap-Ware!
Visually, it is just dunked by Photozone curvy in the cocoa, - the love yes Zeiss and Leica less -
in practice, I could not detect any weaknesses, not even against my 1.4 / 24 mm L II Canon at f: 2.0 to f: 8.0 -
at least not until ISO 800 - because after that Canon has the advantage.
Of course, it stands at f: 2.8 to f: 5.6 still much sharper than at maximum aperture, but also f: 2.0
draws very beautiful, harmonious photos and makes real pleasure without much cause for criticism.
The vignetting remains low, the colors are outstanding, the bokeh wonderful and the distortion is still low.
Even the Leica 1.4 / 24 mm Asperical shows at f: no more beautiful picture drawing 5.6: 4.0 and f.
I just hope the light frame is not to scratch and abrasion sensitive
and I hope that Olympus quickly decides to the 2,0 / 12 mm in black with sun visor, a modern cover
and to bring a programmable slide out !!!
Since there that are 2.8 / 12-40 mm however I no longer need it.
Ultimately, it is also very costly and most likely 300 costs.
