Gameplay / Playful challenge
=======================================
GT 5 is strictly for me no racing game. Race means competition. Fahrerische duels with opponents. Position battles.
All this does not exist in GT 5. Here, the events turn more a matter of selecting the strongest car, tune it, if necessary, and then drive off the field.
This is the game even more acute by the incomprehensible vehicle registrations for the race. It is not uncommon that you participate in a car category Bugatti Veyron in a race in which chug a VW Golf and a Toyota Yaris on the route. The power range of vehicles registered is much too large, so that most races are simply too easy.
Supports is the, uh, "KI" the CPU-controlled vehicles that stick so extreme on the racing line, that you can easily drive past them most, without feeling the slightest resistance. Worse, you can use it as a limit, when you pull at high speed on the inside of the curve and at the apex just laterally moves to the front.
Challenging are the license tests and special events. Just stupid that licenses comply with any sense, except cars and win money. Admission to the races is controlled by a system level, and not on licenses. Likewise, the special events have no special value. For but partly a ridiculously high level of difficulty, at least if you want to bring them to gold. Really must deal only with who goes on PS3 Trophies Hunt wants to carry platinum. But one should bring a high level of masochism.
The ride in Gran Turismo 5 is really great and very heavy simulation. Wisely, the game is officially called "The Real Driving Simulator". A driving simulator so. A very good, mind you, but only a driving simulator. I would have liked a race simulation. :-(

Damage model
=======================================
I am in a hard-fought duel with my shape. Before a left turn I brake too late and touchiere my opponent on the right side. It squeaks and creaks, a huge scratch is torn in the paint before I lose control, will also catapulted over the road, and einschlage with over 200 Km / h in the Streckenbegrezung. There is a gigantic crash, bursting discs, small parts and shards scattered across the floor, the engine compartment is flattened, fenders and hood crushed and demolished a front tire dissolves, flying over the route ...
STOP! Moment! I'm dreaming again! That's not Gran Turismo. From everything mentioned has nothing GT 5. Nothing at all. Has an impact in the wall at 300 km / h means that the bumper slightly warped.
So really ... A little more can be expected of a racing game released in 2010 but probably, right?

Menu navigation
=======================================
Here, the problem already starts with the fact that the main menu is simply confusing. Apart from "A-Spec" and "B-Spec" the points were seemingly randomly placed in different sizes-no matter what job. A system I can hardly recognize since. Sure you know at some point, where is what, but the first time you will kill them, and I feel there is still a fumbling to move to a specific menu item.
As unreasonable then proves, however, that you then also get charging interruptions, if you want to call up a submenu. That always takes meherere seconds, which although may sound low, but adds up quickly. What is this for anything in the world? The game shoveling at the first start several gigabytes of data to the disk, and then to present me in the menus still charging breaks?
In addition, the menu navigation is by no means comfortable. You have to go through the main menu and can not reach certain areas from elsewhere almost always.
Example: I am in the A-Spec in the race selection. I realize that I have none of the vehicles registered for a particular race. Now the game could send me to the car dealer ideally equal. That it does not. I have to:
- Remember me which vehicles are registered (!)
- Then back to main menu
- Then to the dealer
- Then choose and buy a car
- Then to Autoteilehänder
- Then there into various Unterkatgeorien, while each part Tuning confirm twice (for purchase and installation)
- Then the main menu
- Then then select the A-Spec, the race
Including charging interruption lasts the whole procedure several minutes.
Why can not I go right by the race selection to the dealer and get the vehicles registered for the race soon pop up?
Why can not the vehicle selection Tuning directly to retailers?
Why can not you buy all the available tuning parts push of a button at a time and install?

B-spec mode
=======================================
The only purpose of this mode is obviously to win money and cars, without having to drive yourself. Sounds nice, but bought it with the loss of the last nerve when B-Spec Bob is watching while driving. Who has not fired the controller into the TV really has nerves of steel.
As a racer Bob can certainly not be thought. If you do not provide him a superior in brutal extent car under your butt, he wins only in exceptional cases and with very many commands from outside. He wears bidder gaps not, but pulls back. He slows opponents not. He does not use the width of the track. He does not resist at all against overtaking the backers. Once an opponent with the front axle on the amount of Bob's rear axle, brakes Bob leaves, overtake him, and only after that are again full throttle. It is for disengagement.
The mode could still really make sense if I use the / B-Spec driver could engage in long-distance races (which later come) temporarily the duty on me to take over. But that does not go. A-Spec's A-Spec and I'm quite on my own. Not even lasting several hours in the race I can let myself be represented by a B-Spec driver.
The coronation of the B-spec mode 'is still that there is neither a possibility (to run z. B. in double speed) to speed up the race, nor the race to skip at least partially. I am forced to run it in real-time. That is, for a 24-hour race I have to let go of Bob for 24 hours.

Conclusion
=======================================
An on-reviewer wrote that Gran Turismo 5 has been developed by the player. This is probably the most apt description.
Clear the expectations were high, but the blunder, the game has had, just do not have to be. Too bad.
