For newcomers to the DSLR world this cam is expensive. That's true. But it allows for it after the first steps, deeper and deeper dive into the world of photography, which at vieeeeelen cheap entry-level models often quickly reaches its limits. There is still no master fell from the sky, have learned to championship but already many!
The entry will be here in the soothing, automatic his uncertainty about the many functions quickly forgotten and surprised what's possible without in-depth knowledge with this cam. Who then desire has on more and a little is willing to learn, can then gradually work your way-with this cam as that!
But some planning and forethought is announced: So much the 7d now occurs, too, is not a physical miracle! From the very beginning of photography to the optics used and finally the talent of the photographer was always important. For the 7d applies as for all other cameras: weak Lens poor performance! Good Lens Good performance! Here brings the EF-S 15-85mm IS USM lens that I got delivered in the kit, a really pass Abele performance. This all too often invoked image noise and color artifacts especially on light-dark contours, can, with proper use (and which you can learn !!!) definitely be reduced to an acceptable minimum level. The occasionally criticized vignetting at 15-88 IS USM corrects the camera sound. The rest of unpleasant noise and vignette shadow is the way then in the image editing not really a problem more. Of course you should avoid presupposing from ISO 6400 in the dark of night flat noise-free images. That let the laws of physics and digital imaging optics just not to. - None of camera. In an era of analogue photography could have been at a comparable photo environment partially able to recognize on white snow from sheer noise a black cow no longer. So do not panic when things at 500 percent magnification and high ISO values something rushes .... much can be adjusted by right of imaging. This can this camera with the Belge added software (DigitaPhotoProfessional, in conjunction with the raw converter EOS Utility supplied with the camera). In the greatest need help then given if the small but nice equipment flash that quite a living room illuminate in a position with its guide number 13 or can compensate wonderfully difficult lighting conditions on shorter distance. For the construction hall at night provides an external flash (to exploit the functionality of the Canon 7d is recommended 580 EX II, an all compatible device from Metz or Sigma is here in the roughly comparable price). In addition to the device flash, which can be used with this camera even as a master flash, can also be up to 14 system flashes used individually starting from the 7d. If indeed someone is planning to fire 14 flashes at the same time individually, I would be very happy to be invited-as I would have liked there! I'll bring the beer with.)
Brilliant images come naturally in any case especially with high-fixed focal length condition: The colors are a dream, the contours pleasantly sharp (who's like that can sharpen, but takes the risk to let the subject seem so unnatural ...) and also with a little less light you lose no quality ... On the contrary: The colors and contours are in "normal" ISO Breich to about 3,200 harmonious and balanced without blur together - no way I had been in the higher ISO range the impression to produce muddy pictures at usual handling.
In the popular zoom lenses especially in telephoto focal lengths's will but with the 7d expensive, you want to really good image results. As I said, I had no unpleasant losses in the 15-85mm kit lens (even if the EF-S series Unfortunately, only can be used for APS-C sensors, but not for full-frame sensors Canon cameras of other single digit! !!) My photo tests with different focal lengths by different manufacturers were despite careful preparation often partially optically only "very useful" in no way but really good! In the cases with a Tamron 18-270 F / 3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD ASL IF Macro for example, I was very disappointed about the darkness and the fehlfokus frequency. In addition, the lens seemed to me a bit too loud. But it is cheap and has a remarkable focal length range. -Trotzdem Shame if a good camera technique is versuppt the lens ... there was absolutely no problem if you do not shy away from the issue, with the EF 70-200 4L IS USM Canon. Of course, an L lens is always expensive, but it saves the purchase of three other lenses in the same lifetime and reserves in the future because of the mistaken good quality its value. Who wants cheaper's is well served at the 7d at the telephoto zoom range with the Sigma 70-200mm EX DG Macro. It is a bit slower (just a tad ...) than the Canon-mate but instead to have much cheaper! Attention converter fans: The 7d need for focusing at least Aperture 5.6 as initial opening. Dual converter would therefore make with any lens over a maximum aperture of 2.8 autofocus useless !!! Whether a focal length multiplier of only 1.4 makes sense with the associated loss of light, is (expensive) taste!
By the way: the farther the focal range goes down, the more difficult the autofocus photography in general is. The numerous auto focus fields can therefore at large focal lengths and apertures open, as well as to small Blendenöffungen (Caution: diffraction blur !!!) cause unexpectedly poor pictures, what indeed applies to all cameras equally, but what I found more often criticized here! Tip for beginners: Vor'm imprints A focal point fix (the portrait, for example, the subject's eyes) and possible "only" a measurement field, if not specify only a single field for focusing!
One last thought for criticizing Video feature: it works well. Actually, you can even say very well with a clear conscience. The device's internal Micro thumps a little dull from noise, an externally connected makes this point but betting. A nachführenden autofocus is missing of course, but if you need it because, firstly, the D7 a photo camera, secondly, the tracking of human hands is after some practice anyway much more pleasant for the viewer-SO: Practice !!! If you have it then practiced, you can create really good movies, as long as the smart card is sufficient. Who's on Youtube needs: simple edit and compress accordingly, even if the for ambitious photographers, whether professional or beginner, could be rather uninteresting. Here's a hint: FullHD movies run on different PC only after proper preparation of the PC. Every now and then it is criticized that films from the 7d do not run without jerking and dropouts. On other PC these problems but then not to dive! In fairly new computers (technical level from about 2006), the films can run fluent. If they do not, it is not at the 7d, but on a wrong-prepared computer: favorite cause, for example: the automatic download function of various software products in conjunction with viiiiiielen active processes that make the computer work properly undetected. Then, when even a FullHD movie should run smoothly about ...?!)
CONCLUSION: Switching on and snap goes well. Learning is better. Practice is really good and also fun. The camera is with proper lens option very fast, versatile, fun and really achieved really good results. A comparison with other cameras makes little sense-they are all good. Subjectively, I find the 7d a bit better image quality and very comfortable to use, especially at speed. The purchase of useful accessories (external flash systems, lenses, remote release ...), however, can be expensive and should be planned and calculated before purchasing the camera. Supplied with the Richigen tool, the camera all requests from amateur photographers but then served up to the intellectual property. Unconditional purchase recommendation !!!
