This book helps to understand how our brain works and what are the mechanisms operating in the notion of consciousness. In a very clear and with many concrete examples the author explains where are the techniques and tools to measure brain activity. He then tells us about the different states of consciousness limits, differences between coma, vegetative state (or non-response), brain death ... and how to determine if a patient is conscious or not, medical and legal implications. It is very interesting and allows to better understand the "ethical" aspects of media and medical cases and human drama.
