I just finished the books of Simone Bertiere on the 16th and 17th century, and my delight and enthusiasm for these works made me buy "Le Grand Coeur" by Jean-Christophe Ruffin. What a disappointment, no comparison with the psychological subtlety, depth, knowledge and historical honesty of Mrs. Bertiere book. This little realistic book Mr. Ruffin made me appear as a small Jacques Coeur braggart who becomes me increasingly unfriendly. I find it hard to finish. The only positive is that it made me discover this character I'm struggling in the book to share the truth and the novel. It does not make me want to read other books by this author, but given its prestigious titles, I will give him a second chance.
