1. Connections:
The headset required in addition to the USB port also 2 more jack slots, one for audio and one for the mic. So if you have not even just 3 matching ports free, must operate to some lengths to connect the device at all can - To make matters worse, that the 3 cables are welded together near the end of what the choice of slots further limits because they are relatively must be close to each other. On my laptop, the X12 without additional (paid) hardware can not connect because I only have a jack connection (although with laptops now times are more the rule than the exception should be, not to mention all Macbooks).
In this regard, I find the product description very misleading as just "USB powered" is touted as a feature.
2. hardware detection on Win7 does not work (broken?):
Admittedly so the X12 is not designed for PCs (but for the Xbox), nevertheless full compatibility is promised, which unfortunately is not true in my case. Although sound and mic are working properly, the headset is not recognized by Windows as a playback device, thus can not be established separate volume control for eg Skype and music. Some may consider this to be rather trivial, for me, it is an essential feature that distinguishes the X12 from other products.
To be fair, it seems this is to be a defect or bug, or at least there are the manufacturer an entire page with tips on how the problem could be resolved. None of them worked in my case, but I'm going to return the equipment anyway, it makes no sense to contact support. However, the presence of said side leads to the conclusion that it is not such a rare problem, so you have to potentially expect when buying a X12.
3. Microphone Monitor:
What sounds like a nice feature is the absolute deathblow this product for me. It involves a separate speaker in the ear that reflects everything consumed by micro again. The idea behind this is that it means you yourself heard as loud as all the interlocutors, and does not start because of the insulation of the ears, to speak louder. Unfortunately, it is just as useless as unnecessary, first, the insulation in any way is strong enough to justify such measures, secondly, takes the mic every little ambient noise on (including music from the next room) and are directly next to the ear, thus is completely obsolete insulation. Worse, the playback is also set too loud, so I get sore from my own voice ears at normal call volume in a very short time (admittedly I have a very sensitive organ of hearing, so others may have fewer problems).
The microphone monitor can be at X12 neither exclude nor change in its volume - in this pleasure come only the more expensive models (about the PX22). This circumstance too is strangely to see the product description anywhere.
CONCLUSION:
Under these circumstances, I can recommend the X12 under any circumstances for the predominant use with a PC or laptop. I can, however, did not say anything about the operation with a console (as I no possession), also the comfort I can hardly evaluate. In the short time in which I tested it, it seemed quite comfortable, not too hard, and the sound of my standards pretty good. Those like me who has sensitive eavesdropper or simply do not want to hear it all the time myself, should definitely stay away from the X12. I'm going to my immediately against a PX22 exchange (which can be by the way, unlike the X12 easily connect laptops or even mobile phones), in the hope that I get along better with it.
