For me, especially the use as a router is essential. So the WL-330NUL connect with LAN cable and power supply socket. After a few seconds the boot process, there is a WLAN, with which you can connect via printed on the adapter code. After that, it is a bit difficult for the untrained user. The guide speaks for Mac users of the browser type the URL asusnetwork.net and thus end up in the router / WLAN Settings menu unfortunately does not fold. This problem can be of course the default IP address for most broadband router devices: 192.168.1.1. This input to the browser provides access to the router's menu, in which you in turn can log in with the imprinted on the device code. (As for Windows users appears to be a software is stored on the device when it connects to the PC, this problem will be for this to be limited)
The menu offers the usual settings: name / SSDI change your wireless network, change password for the wireless network, settings for private and guest network configuration regarding IP addresses for the LAN connection etc. and a MAC address-based device management.
In router menu under Administration can also be switched between the Ethernet Adapter mode and router mode, then configure even the LAN connection and you have the LAN cable wlanifiziert.
Something strange, however, is that the access code for the router management (one remembers: it is printed on the device and acts the same time as the password for the wireless network of factory settings) can not change. Anyone who is logged in the tub and the unit has within reach, may ultimately play around in the router management. A workaround would be to scrape the code from the device and to remember the password.
For my application, an externally very handsome and after some unnecessary teething problems quite well-functioning unit. A cloning the MAC address was not necessary for me, so that I can give to those described in other reviews issues regarding this function without information.
With a battery certainly wonderful mobile and browser-based router menu across platforms (Windows / Mac) usable. The deduction of points there because of the lack of reference to the corresponding router IP address or the no longer functioning forwarding asusnetwork.net on 198.162.1.1. and the strange handling of the printed code.
