Bluetooth Shower Speaker - FM radio - Water resistant - wireless and hands-free speaker with suction cup - Autopairing function - Compatible with all Bluetooth devices (electronics)
The Abcotech Bluetooth Shower Speaker has left me free to test. I already have a similar product - the Soundwave SW50 - but without the radio and not against splash water. The idea the speaker in the shower to be able to take in the vicinity of the bathtub or the swimming pond without getting scared by the speaker to have also, liked the same. Also the integrated radio seemed practical. The Abcotech is similar in size to the Soundwave (slightly larger in diameter, but some flat), but with its colors clearly noticeable. On the top are several rubberized buttons for volume, radio search, call answer (it's a speakerphone integrated) and play / pause, on / off and switch between radio and Bluetooth operation. The underside is a big sucker for Mounting on tiles, glass or similar. It is promised to IPX4 a tightness what promises protection against splashing water. The device thus is not suitable for environments where the speaker is immersed in water or splash water (shower head!) Directly hits the speaker. Housing upper and lower parts are sealed with a sealing ring, the keys are protected by a rubber coating and the micro-USB connector for charging (cable included) will also be provided with a removable rubber cap protected. The speaker is located on the back behind numerous holes and has an aluminum cone with a rubber surround (see photo). The loudspeaker has been glued in the housing, probably to seal here. The main weakness of this concept is very clear to the USB port that is only protected by the rubber cap. This does not sit all too hard and is slightly fiddly to install, but is at least on one side attached to the housing so that it is not lost. One should therefore always attach the speakers so that shows the USB socket downwards so that no water can flow into the housing - it will probably be difficult again the way out and then expected to cause damage in the unit.
To function: The Abcotech has immediately and easily connected to my Android phone - just turn it on by pressing power button and the Play button briefly press - that's it! The volume in Bluetooth playback can be regulated both via Bluetooth, and also directly on the device (which may of Soundwave not) - good! The radio works quite passable and stores using Auto Scan automatically several transmitters. However, I lack the ability to specifically search for my preferred station - there is no frequency display and no manual Search option and the reception is only suitable for stronger transmitter.
For sound: The sound is ok for a shower speaker, but certainly no sensation. The SoundWave SW50 eg sounds more mature - more detail in the treble and a little fuller in the lower area. Serious bass of course you can not both expected. What am Abcotech most bothers me - when the buttons on the keyboard, as well as power on / off, sound loud Quittierungstöne. Who wants to take the speaker even in the evening or in peaceful surroundings, in operation, is bothered by the unwanted attention which one gets by. Even the SW50 makes the power on / off - what is this?
In short: + Radio + Compact Bluetooth speaker + Volume setting directly on speaker o passable sound o tightness at least for operation in the vicinity of water with occasional splashes sufficient - Color scheme (a matter of taste) - Loud Quittierungsgeräusche in operation
