I have used these lamps in three small lampshades floor lamp, the orientation of the lamp was on top, narrow end of the lampshade back. Unfortunately, the viewing angle of the lamp is so unfavorable in conjunction with the length that only about one-third of the lampshade is illuminated. In a downward orientation (eg in a hanging lamp) which may not be OK, with a floor lamp, unfortunately. For such applications, there is Amazon better LED lamps with a much larger downward direction Abstrahwinkel version, I now use it here and am completely satisfied; refRID = 05842VA1EHD9C08FXCCS
