1. The screen should be doubly sharply with 921,600 pixels compared to 461,000 pixels with the Canon yes, but unfortunately that did not fall on in practice.
2. The optical zoom factor to 30 is indeed very well and good, but you can rarely keep quiet freehand and then only rarely sharp images come to light. For comparison, I then zoomed analogous to Canon only to a factor of 20 - yes heck, sharper images in a direct comparison were not too!
3. In indoor light shots incl. Macro with and without flash and in the automatic programs unfortunately the Canon with only 12 megapixels in the lead, all automatic programs, such as Intelligent Auto and Program for interior shots bring to the Sony no better image quality, upgrading a would justify 20 megapixels - unfortunately.
In outdoor settings in low light (meaning sun does not shine, cloudy, hazy, Twilight) brings unfortunately also highly armed to 20 megapixel Sony no advantage over the Canon 12-megapixel. In good lighting conditions, I could not detect any differences - as most cameras but bring a good image quality.
I looked at the exact same shots in the automatic modes of both cameras to compare the PC and the flat screen TV, where you feel today look at most images to days, to see how the image quality of cameras, and I would have so liked a new travel camera with better picture quality and the larger zoom level desired, but so is the Sony DSC-HX50 not be!
Then there are a few things that made me suspicious:
- No external charger included (will cost extra money again) and then to the universal charging port as a filigree cover - whether the long goes well ...?
- I have also started about 6-7 times provided from the unfavorable arranged Movie Mode Button - Better to go with the wheel on film and to start recording on the trigger and finish (so it goes to the Canon)
- Lightning mechanically via mini button to release - so snapshots with flash are a no-go! (The Canon recognizes the self-employed and wupps lightning outside and the snapshot is in the box)
- HDMI connector on the bottom of the camera? - Great, then you put the camera either on the lens or on the screen, well or holding them up in your hand, though you can turn on a HDMI control ...?!
- View images via W-LAN on TV or PC - unfortunately with me always works only on the first image, then the line went dead again - so if you offer something, it should also work and I am familiar with networking capabilities really good !
So, everything is not quite logical Sony ...!
Well, since I'm just saying "Learning by doing!" - And as I remain with my Canon SX240HS!
For people who have not had a digital camera or possess a much older model, the Sony will not be bad. However, they will still be overpriced for the offered image quality because there are better price / performance alternatives on the market. The large zoom factor that you can not really use and a Wi-Fi that is not working properly, bring no added value!
The star there is, because it is well made and because it works photo technically good, but nothing more!
