But gradually more and more games of the Microsoft-internal platform "Games for Windows" came into my collection, and thus began the trouble. In the recent "Tomb Raider" -Titeln was not to think of a collaboration between game and input device. At least not readily. Only about detours and much software adaptation, I managed to play pretend a XBOX 360 controller. Since I was able to knock me without false pride in one's shoulder.
This procedure but unfortunately not helped me at the recent game purchase. "Alone in the Dark," an action-adventure from 2008, ended up for three ridiculous mosquitoes in my players matter and wanted to immediately be gambled. Well, also I wanted to, but could not. It was absolutely impossible to get up and running the PS2 pad over it. Resiginiert I went over to the keyboard & mouse combo, but not real fun came up with, because distributed "Alone in the Dark" very many functions on too many buttons.
So I gave in, went to the next Elekronik market and took for good 30 Euros a cabled original Xbox 360 controller, choice of colors black (is timeless, fits better with the rest of PC hardware and is in my opinion too much dirt resistant than its pearly white twin brother). Black is beautiful!
Plugged, installed drivers, recognized device. Not only from the Device Manager, but - you amazed! - Also from "Alone in the Dark". That pleased me, and I hope for the future that I am equipped with the PS2 and the Xbox controller for all kinds of eventualities.
For controller itself:
Excellent processing. Despite mass of material (the PS2 part is compared to slimmer) is the gamepad comfortable to hold and has a very ergonomic design. D-pad, analog sticks and buttons were positioned in perfect intervals. That pad and left analog stick, unlike the PS2 pad have swapped the place after a short time is no longer a problem zone. The continuous pressure depth of the rear LT and RT buttons surprised me very positively, since I did not even know this. Must also mention in my defense, that I am the only acceptable PC gamers and home to my place to live since the PS2 is no other console, hence my lack of experience with the latest technology gamepad * g *. Anyway, make these special keys just for racing games right sense.
The material surface is roughened. A good decision, slipping the hands / fingers, making it almost impossible. The sticks have the same finish, the buttons and the directional pad, however, are slippery. And here I come to the single, small point of criticism:
A pad in rougher material would have been the better choice. Would simply feel better and fit together visually better in combination with the sticks. But for this little thing I draw from no star of the product rating, at a high level rummeckern is not my way;).
Conclusion:
A very high quality gamepad from Microsoft. Despite initial skepticism, the results from my years of experience with the competing product of the house Sony, I'm from the XBOX 360 controller very impressed. As a second device or a gamepad Message Favourite sensible purchase, and the price-performance ratio also agrees.
