I understand the general joy that Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Cedric Bixler-Zavala have found themselves again, but this "Antemasque" euphoria I can not understand so well. Clear makes the disc fun and it also includes some really great moments ("Providence", "Rome Armed to the Teeth"), but all in all is the aftertaste of a certain mediocrity. I mean that now not at all that much in terms of progrockigen Mars Volta escapades, but rather to the insane emotional depth and the Drive a hammer as "Relationship of Command". In "Antemasque" make me instead indie pop songs like "50,000 Kilowatts" beyond measure perplexed ... I feel, as someone wants "back to the roots", but he does not know how he will do that. It begins at the cover and the artwork on ... Yeah, less is often more, but is so little really enough? And then the sound: brassy, loud, compressed. Welcome to the garage! What with "De-loused" and "relationship" even came over and wanted classy, seems here almost helpless ... Dear fans, please understand me correctly: This should be by no means Veriss. But the dream team Omar / Cedric I expect simply more. Maybe when you next time?
