The 60D suited me fine. Although it is spoken in many reviews of a descent into the xxD class, the attached bleated points get me fine - SD card I can continue to use magnesium body probably needs only the professional who has strapped several bodysuits to the shoulder and the cameras constantly popping each other!
Puuuhhh, but honestly, what passionate amateurs or amateur photographer is so inattentive to his material?
The slightly slower burst mode against the 50D does not matter ... I come from the 450D with 3.5 frames / sec. ;-)
The folding screen I knew from my earlier days with the PowerShot G3 and found this is another nice gimmick. When filming or Macros very helpful today at an event from the back row: Hold the camera up and shoot over their heads - class.
Important criteria that were important for a decision or advancement for me:
- High ISO sensitivity (I photograph a lot indoors with poor lighting conditions, flash is not always possible or too little coverage). Here the 450D had 800 distinct noise even at ISO.
Here equal my first enthusiasm in the first tests. ISO 3200 is not a problem, not to say, only when 100% of the screen is anything from noise here determine. Even ISO 6400 are acceptable if you spend the includes prints to smaller sizes until 13x19cm.
- Focus Tracking with sequential shots with moving subjects. Man, as the 450D has had real difficulties. The difference is like night and day. The 60D is simply a different class. Ten consecutive images were all perfectly sharp at a zubewegenden me object. Class!
- White Balance. In the 450D, it was probably a coincidence, when the white balance has once fitted. Therefore, I had grown accustomed to all recordings, to take photos in RAW and each time to revise all the images (which is to accomplish at least quickly with Canon's DPP). For simple scenes, in which situations should only be documented, it does not depend on the last bit of quality, but I found the constant reworking sometimes annoying, but at least time-consuming.
The 60D meets the white balance to nearly 100%. Whether internally with little or a lot of light, artificial light or outdoor shooting with sun or shade, the result is downright impressive. Documentation in JPG are now possible without any problems and rework.
PS: Here of course also helps the function of Vignetierungskorrektur in the camera. My immerdrauf Canon EF-S 18-200 IS has here but a visible weakness, since only in RAW (just) could be corrected. The 60D makes it equal to itself and saves the JPG without the annoying Randabdunkelung.
- Resolving power: In many test reports and reviews will be spoken by the weaknesses of mega zooms and their Auflöung and that there are sufficient 12 megapixels. My opinion: forget that and test it yourself! Controversy remains the whole purpose of such resolutions demanding hobby area. One (1) RAW image has measly 28-30MByte size. Power at just 100 images scarce 3GB. Clearly, memory is getting cheaper and hard drives do not cost the earth.
But on a 3 year old PC can barely handle this amount of data in reasonable times. Alone of the screen change takes some time (focus at 100% within 3-5 seconds) of a mass conversion of a holiday folder with 500 images takes almost an eternity.
But now back to the beginning of the paragraph: A distant from 20m fir same 18-200 lens included, once 450D, 60D and once considered the same image area: It is striking how the individual needles of the fir in the 60D at 100% yet can be recognized and counted. When 450D and 12MPixel was here only a "branch" are detected, which looks like a pine tree.
As is probably the result look at an L lens ...
Personally, I find over the 450D still class:
- ISO limit in the auto mode
- LCD display showing the most important settings
- Video mode (I still need to test extensively, but I'm not a videographer and only intermittently want to hold my son, class function Unless only my first attempts: Video works and quality sufficient for me..)
- Lens Corrections in the camera (such as vignetting, etc.)
Unfortunately, an annoying drawback was, however, already described several times. The dial can not rotate 360 °, but has at the end of a stop. So the Movie Mode to Custom Mode ... 19 snap settings.
Nevertheless, decision no regrets, full marks.
Summary:
All newly promoted from the consumer class xxxD can safely ascend to the 60D.
All Semiprofis should probably ascend from the xxD on the 7D. Here are just different requirements provided as micro-adjust the focus, multiple memory card slots, CF card, etc.
Everything else has already been written.

Meanwhile, I have several thousand photos shot'm still happy.
Micro-adjust - as written by a commentator - is pure marketing gimmick. When the light is right, focussed the 60D with a variety of lenses I tested knotless (Sigma 70-200 f2.8 HSM II, Tamron 18-200mm, Tamron SP 60mm F2 Macro, Canon 24-105mm f4 L, Canon EF 18-200 -S, Canon EF-S 10-22mm, Tamron 18-270mm)
Another favorite of mine is the EF-S 10-22mm USM. I have written a separate recession at the moment. And at the Wide Focus is anyway not the problem, since in these focal areas actually everything is sharp when the lenses permit. But in combination with the 60D, absolute recommendation.
Especially in this extreme wide-angle range of the folding screen is an absolute must. One loegt here constantly on their knees or completely on the ground to scan the extreme angle of view of flowers, humans or any other objects impressively.
Even overhead images are in demand here again. In short, I do not want to miss the folding screen.
