The June 24, 2014 after 2 weeks of use: I use for nearly 10 years Western Digital drives for professional use. No problem, very strong on the previous series "Essential". I bought two My Passport drives to increase capacity and also anticipate a possible failure of older disks that were used many years still work but are not eternal; also to move to the USB3. For several weeks I use the new My Passport drives, I notice regularly read errors, unrecognized discs. I had to format them 3 times to repair. Currently occasionally some files are unreadable. I run Windows Disk repair and it works again. I have more confidence. I shifted my old backups to discs that seem more reliable and ordered new Seagate drives ... I do not know if it's better, we'll see. Older disks Western Digital were heavy, it's been tough, which is important for the mechanical microphone. The My Passport series is over, but very slight. Everything must be thinner, smaller, and therefore more fragile. I do not think I've totally wasted the 200 for 2 discs (for professional use that is not a large sum) because I learned that it was also necessary to diversify the materials in a backup system. You can purchase these discs, but know they are not very reliable, so you have to plan accordingly. Are other brands better? The question remains open.
November 06, 2014 after 3 months of use: I used this disc from June to September. Constantly defective sectors problems and lost files, blocking procedures automatic backups. I destroyed and used for a few weeks a disc of a different brand. Everything works again without problems. I put 2 stars in the benefit of the doubt ... I put the minimum score. Product avoided. I also said that I have another Western Digital drive of the same model with a capacity of 2 TB, used for backups. I have not had any loss of information, but it must still regularly repaired. I keep it because it is the 3rd backup disk; There are 2 others that work - an old Western Digital Element has always worked well and another of a different brand.
