The bag is nothing special, but expensive. It protects the Navi against minor drops and scratches when not in use. The bag is unilaterally strengthened, so that the display is protected a little better on the "hard" side. The magnetic clip could be fixed, but is just not sufficient. For the 'Premium Series' (currently only the 3598) it does not appear to fit, as these models are significantly thinner than those devices the "Advanced" or "Essential" series. Nevertheless, the case is reported to the Garmin website for these devices as a supposedly matching accessories. A belt clip, strap or the like. missing the pocket also.
Conclusion: the displays of current nüvi series are sufficiently sensitive so that the purchase of a bag is worth quite - provided one has a "matching" 5-inch device.
A cheaper alternative to this case would be the part 010-11793-00, however, which provides less protection.
For the expensive 'nüvi Premium' you will probably want to take more of the All-in-One Case 010-11835-00. This has at least a zipper ...
