Customer Review

In a nutshell: I think the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro very well done and am very satisfied so far. A few small drawbacks, but solvable.

I probably had the good fortune to get one of the first available device. I had the Sony Vaio Pro and the new Yoga taken 2 per eye in advance as Ultrabook with touch feature the Asus UX31A Touch. The first two I was able to view on site, but always had something to complain about ;-) The Sony has a massive wireless problem and my carbon in the range of the keyboard is personally too lenient. The Asus UX31A has the absolute noble optics, but is technically no longer quite up to par. The successor UX301A is outrageously expensive with almost 1800 Euros. Therefore my yoga was 2 Pro from the beginning most sympathetic, but unfortunately not yet available. So I took a little risk and have pre-ordered the device without having it previously had in his fingers. As I looked at the previous model thoroughly, the network already has a lot of videos for new Yoga 2 Pro are available and I appreciate Lenovo, the risk was manageable.

After almost a week I have now tested the device, an initial conclusion:

Positives:
+ Very noble appearance and wonderful thin. Not quite as noble as the Asus UX31A, but significantly better than the old yoga. The surface material is easy to grip and slightly rubberized as its predecessor.
+ Very good workmanship.
+ Haswell processor that has neatly steam and is still economical.
+ 8 GB should be sufficient for most purposes, including virtual machines.
+ The display and high resolution (3200 x 1800 pixels) are to die for. Graphics and fonts are displayed knackscharf. However, one must at one or the other program screws on the settings for symbols with 16 x 16 pixels are not really make use of this resolution.
+ The keyboard can not keep up with the (legendary) business models, but is good and pleasant to use.
+ Beautiful keyboard light, ideal in low-light.
+ Large, well funltionierendes touchpad.
+ Low weight, really very practical during transport.
+ Small, lightweight power adapter.
+ The Yoga function, which I use mainly the tablet mode. Sure, you can the unit in which weight is not like keeping a 10-inch tablet with 700 grams, but propped up, for example on their feet, it is for me absolutely couch compatible. Two devices in one, super!
+ Windows is booted as with Ultrabooks extremely fast start, in a maximum of 7 seconds.
+ Good battery runtime. I run no benchmark, but in everyday use, 75% screen brightness and enabled WLAN (!) Are far easy 7-8 hours in there, possibly a little more.
+ The fan has not been made unpleasantly noticeable. Using a stress test, you can probably get him sometimes to annoy in everyday use the occasional noise is absolutely ok for me.
+ The touch function is not only in the use as a tablet but also as a notebook very useful, eg when scrolling.
+ WLAN reception is good and without problems.

Neutral:
o As with all Ultrabooks with touch reflects the display. I have presented it to me, however, worse. The brightness makes this disadvantage largely made up for it. In my usual work environment I get along well. However, the screen ruckzuck full fingerprints. Once matte antireflective films are available, I'll try to reduce reflections and the finger-smears.
o Windows 8 has already been bitched enough. It requires time now learning curve, but it has clear advantages when using touch panels.

Negatives:
- The accessories for this price range more than meager. An AC adapter, a quick start guide, that's it. No manual and especially no adapters for LAN and VGA. The one must even buy it. Asus demonstrates how it goes better.
- So far, I come with the Lenovo One Key Recovery System, which is used in all new Lenovo, not as clear as I would like - or I have the concept previously misunderstood. I am not yet managed to create a bootable backup disk to get the device back to factory default if necessary. Consequently, I have not dared to open a separate data partition. Many other devices namely could then no longer be accessed Recovery single partition. Without the possibility of restoration of external then you have a real problem. I hope there is soon to be a workable solution. I would be very happy if one of the readers knows such and she tells me!

Largely because of these two negative points I would like to deduct half a star. Do not go, so I have to myself between 4 and 5 star decide. Due to the generally great overall impression, the more diverse compared to "normal" Ultrabools applications and hoping hopefully can create bootable recovery media soon, there is of me 5 stars.

Addendum:
---------
The unit is now almost two weeks in operation and I am very satisfied - despite the now new, mostly negative reviews that I personally can not quite understand. The tastes are just different.

One of my negative points, creating recovery discs, I can underline. The problem is solved. It was simply my ignorance of Windows 8. This brings namely its own program to with, just the home screen "Create recovery drive" type. Then a bootable USB flash drive is created with the original recovery partition. Upon request, this partition is deleted to make room. Exactly what I was looking for.

Addendum 2:
-----------
My Yoga 2 is now for 3 months in daily use and I am now not only fully convinced but very excited about this device. The work order is really fun, I do not want to miss. Issues: None.

An adapter from Micro-HDMI to VGA for 15 euros now ensures trouble-free operation on the projector. A matte screen film I've already tried, but she could not convince me. The reflections were indeed reduced, but the picture was very grainy - too bad for this great display.

One note I can not resist, because some whiners Ultrabook not get along because of the high resolution, with some applications (still) speak ill:
Why do not you simply provides the screen resolution to 1920 x 1080 pixels and sets the display to resources (125%) or larger (150%) - already provides for the representation in every situation genaus out so as with any other bog standard notebook with HD display ... I think you have to look at the whole package, not just a single aspect (the one also can easily corrected). And as an overall package, Lenovo has built a great Ultrabook.
