Encouraged by another review, which confirms that the case appears to recognize a 250GB Toshiba hard drive properly, I slammed to have a connection option more for my Toshiba MK2431GAH (240GB).
The devil lies in the detail, because the other review, the SATA version (for its SATA hard drive), but the MK2431GAH is a ZIF hard drive.
And so I was somewhat disappointed when the housing or Windows asserted when connected, the hard drive is only 137GB (128GB) large and also not formatted. At this time my previous ZIF adapter had passed away and I was waiting for compensation from Asia, I could not refute the claim. Formatting or reinitializing brought no other result, so I had to pull up to the arrival of my replacement adapter into consideration that my hard drive had suffered loss together with the old adapter.
Replacement Adapter but showed how his predecessor of identical during his lifetime that the hard disk is in good health and good health.
Therefore, I regret to say that the ZIF version of this disk housing obviously can not deal with hard drives> 137GB. It may of course have been an isolated phenomenon be (my housing-copy not quite right?) Or it concerns only the MK2431GAH. Although I did not know whether there are still so many other ZIF hard drives with storage of this magnitude. However, the Toshiba 128 to 240GB should probably all be affected.
I can safely say that not.
The faults to other reviews I can not confirm that. Well, I had other worries, but with the overall quality of the case, I was satisfied. For me though the foam pads were missing, but the seller had forwarded if I had still brought the plate to faultless being known me.
With the USB port, plug and cables I had no problems, and the ZIF cable did not have any problems.
The blue end is slightly thicker than the white. The blue is probably the adapter / controller of the case, the white of the hard drive. Thus also the position direction is given: the contacts are - if I really know from memory - down accordingly the hard drive may have to be "placed on its back", hence there can which meet the contacts of the cable to the hard drive ,
It is true, however, that this is not accompanied by instructions that would make life easier for the user.
Otherwise, I would probably recommend the case when my hard drive would be recognized properly.
Another note: The model number of the drive has been passed correctly to Windows, the name of the manufacturer Toshiba, however, was by the controller manufacturer replaced (?): Initio. This is normal according to the seller.
In addition, however, no SMART data could be read, with my other adapters already. But that can also be related to that even the hard disk is not recognized with the correct capacity.
