When unpacking the joy was at Christmas huge - once batteries (4 x AA) reingemacht (a joke really, that none exist in a toy in this price range in the package and on the box nor a Duracell imprint is available) and it was thought yet "it has been the right decision." Clear the creature is already cute when it only unpacks and holds in his hands. When he starts to tell even then (at the beginning of something "furbisch" heavy) it has a certain charisma.
The first disappointment was done with the app. This is huge (270 MB!) And the sample videos that you have to watch for the first time ever for each action are only available in English.
The problem with all actions that must be run with the Furby (toilet / feeding / X) - the communication is not via infrared / NFC / Bluetooth but through the speaker of the smartphone / tablet. And if background noise has the Furby massive problems with toileting or feeding and it always comes the message "Furby was not found". Even in complete silence the communication does not work when the Furby himself just told. In my opinion an absolute design flaw! It is positive that the defined "custom name" from Furby also works for other devices. Only you start then stop again from 0, the video may again look and is sentenced to hatch eggs. That's the annoying to the app. Who needs this virtual Furbys? This can be done not just ignore it and only worry about the real Furby.
What do you not everything for his daughter and one cares necessarily common to the care of the real and the virtual Furbys. If you can not read it sometimes just has problems (eg disease diagnosis).
Enthusiasm for the Furby and the App held only at about 1 week. In the beginning it was still allowed to sleep in the bed but now the creature (O-Ton) is "only annoying". It is or is somewhere in the closet and you have to always be careful when moving, that it does not wake up.
The durability of the batteries is in extensive use (the creature is indeed never rest when this is in the middle) is very low. We Sanyo Eneloop batteries used and after max. 3 days was from the first time the juice. We thought at first that part is broken now it has just done nothing more and a battery indicator does not exist but with charged batteries life was suddenly there again. As we rejoiced still more or less. The second battery change was necessary after approximately another 4 days. Meanwhile, we have the problem no longer, because the Furby is sentenced to 98.57% for sleeping.
Again we would not buy the Furby - perhaps it is but rather designed for older children. To be able to deal with the concern the Furby never wrong, that it does not develop a "bad character" is, just not exactly beneficial to the harmless fun.
### ### UPDATE
Attention! Hardly a smartphone / tablet is officially compatible with the app. We were just lucky that the Nexus 7 tablet had been halfway works. Meanwhile, we have an Acer Iconia Tab 0.0 the works and the response from the Customer (original quote):
Dear Mr. XXXXX,
not all devices are compatible with the app.
Please check again at [...]
there are all devices that can be used are listed.
Chance, the app can also be downloaded on devices
which are not in the list, these are unfortunately not to use 100%.
Yours sincerely

On the website [...] is to:
Find other Android devices, the app can be used?
Samsung Galaxy S2, S3, Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and Galaxy Note 2. Amazon Kindle Fire HD 1st and 2nd generation (3rd generation is not compatible because a microphone is missing). Google / Asus Nexus 7. Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx HD (except Model XT926). Toys R US Tabeo. NOTE: Android OS 2.3.3 or later must be installed on the device.

A bad joke might think - if that is the complete list of all supported devices.
Now we have to convince our daughter only that we return the Furby, because the app will never work on the current tablet. And in advertising, the app is so big and offered additional features it advertised.
Overall, therefore, changed from 3 stars to 2 stars. A very sick joke what HASBRO has technically delivered here with the app.
