In the 80 to 60 years, Ernst Haefliger recorded four albums Schubert: one, Winterreise, Schwanengesang and Lieder. Now while the other three are deeply outstanding successes, it is somewhat less convincing. It is the voice of Haefliger, now veiled, worn by years, is less suitable to the atmosphere distinctly youthful Belle Meuniere. Of course, the desperate melancholy of the end of cycle is beautifully rendered, but the beginning is less happy and less homogeneous whole. Despite its historical character (this is the 1st version accompanied by a pianoforte) and its undeniable moments of beauty, this Belle Meuniere therefore not required as a priority.
In 1991, Diapason wrote in his dictionary records "Haefliger is probably less convincing here than in other cycles: the voice accuses a lack of youth is sometimes unstable or toneless in acute and now seems unable to translate emotions a young lover. Dähler is against passionate and ardent, sometimes even hit, a relentless vivacity which increases the contrast effect with the difficulties Haefliger game. "
