Short story: The story is episodic divided into four parts; each of these parts is once again divided into two parts, each two characters can be alternately controlled by a player. The character who can not be controlled by players, is acquired by the CPU. Offline via splitscreen can also engage a second human player, the online is not possible. This is both a throwback to the online co-op option, as it existed about in Part 5, on the other hand the possibility of by-character option is still very limited. Why does it sometimes but may be useful nevertheless, this control instead of the main character, I'll tell the same.
The two main characters are familiar to the Resi veterans: Claire Redfield (precisely that of Resident Evil: Code Veronica) to enter and Barry Burton from the Ur-resident-evil honor. The significantly aged Claire is accompanied by Barry's daughter Moira, while Barry the little Natalia is the side that has somehow survived the horror alone. While the main protagonists handle unerringly with all kinds of firearms, are the side characters only a crowbar (Moira) or occasionally lying around Brick (Natalja) available with which they can fight their skin. But the two can in turn open chests, discovering hidden objects or even recognize monster behind walls, so that it is quite worthwhile to occasionally change a button once on the side character.
The two-part action is still waiting with a special knack to: In the first half of each episode is of a group of mercenaries kidnapped Claire and Moira hit by an enemy-infested island including prison facility, gloomy forest, factory and mandatory laboratory complex, the second half with Barry and Natalja plays six months after these events, and Barry is trying to find his daughter, who has sent an emergency call, and save. He sometimes goes by the same localities that have already passed through the two ladies, but sometimes it drives him on alternate routes.
The story offers the usual set pieces from mad scientists, crazy idealists, father-daughter conflict and some more from the literary mothballs - you can ignore them as much as possible and drift simply by the act. Apart from that it is so easy to see through as a clear mountain stream - those who think towards the end of 'Oh, so I would have not expected now', belongs probably to act technically more likely to be simpler minds. But what I definitely recommend, is a change of voice from German to English - even the most stubborn defender of our mother tongue will have to admit that the German speakers are rather a shame of their craft. In English, it is at least tolerable, albeit worlds of games such as 'The Last of Us' away. German subtitles, you can optionally turn on the way.
The horror is subtle in the least moments and is therefore more with the mallet; But the march has already been described above through the dark forest provides, if only because of the successful soundscape certainly for one or the other creeps.
In addition to the main story, which knows how to captivate the player 7-10 hours the title has incidentally still neat further employment potential: On the disc, there are two other small stories in which this time the two supporting actor playing the lead role and a lot to their history brighten.
Plus, there's the so-called 'Raid' mode, where the player (this time also online) is cast in short scenarios alone or in co-op, where it applies, a certain number of (resistant stronger) opponents destroy; occasionally sits a plus one (not too threatening) time limit in the neck. In RAID mode you find weapons or items and earned money and experience points with which one its character (a variety of character models in addition to those from the base game is available for this purpose) and improved weapons and equipment purchases and improved.
So much for the pure facts - important but is really just a question: Is it fun?
And the answer is simple: Yes, it does.
There is a Resident Evil somewhere between the original trilogy and the fantastic fourth part, the graphics are good, but not outstanding good, it has, especially in terms of storytelling and sometimes hakeliger control, his weaknesses, but also offers some nice up tricky puzzles ( which are sometimes due to the unfortunate camera angle), nasty and sometimes threatening great opponent (although the really big caliber of Part 4 are very rare), waived fortunately completely on quick-time events, and has - at least in parts - a pleasantly creepy atmosphere , The game is not the ultimate salvation of the Resident Evil series, but it's a good step in the right direction. And since it also for the fun offered also is still surprisingly low, there is of me a strong buy recommendation.
