The Fernbedinung is in Normal mode (number field, on / off, etc.) well in hand, the buttons are a bit spongy but still pushing well and respond quickly. Only one key (arrow-down) is not responding properly and must be pressed considerably stronger than any other. In keyboard mode, however, interfere with the sharp edges of the remote control; but can hurt you is difficult.
Although the box may take up to a NAS, but unfortunately it does not work really. The Login with username & password never worked, because the box is not correctly logs on to NAS / Samba. It had to be the login data removed, allowing the NAS guest access. Then it worked flawlessly. The data throughput for NAS was around 7 - 8 MB / s, which is little even for the 100 Mb / s connection. Furthermore, not all directories will be selected in the release as Location. For example, could a directory though as the default recording folder but not be selected as TimeShift folder. Probably needs to be in the desired directory nor a subfolder are to ensure that the selection work properly.
Recordings are not saved as .MPG or .MP4 for example, but in a directory named in the format "SENDER_D.M.YYYY.X.trp", where X is a consecutive number and are given only single-digit day and month, so eg DAS_ERSTE_2.5.2015.1.trp
In this directory there are several files with proprietary extensions, so the video stream in the XXX.vid file is stored.
As the box when accessing network storage is not working properly or professionally, I have this function completely deactivated and a connected USB HDD. Whether encrypted channels are stored unencrypted I have therefore not been tested.
But before I deaktiverte the function, I played a trial basis from a number of films from the NAS. A 1080p movie as H264 to MKV not walked. Another as H264 in MP4 had too many pictures and sound. 720p (H264 to MKV / MP4) was fine and 576p movies (AVI).
An old AppleTV2 with Jailbreak play all these files but without any problem from, also the operation is much simpler, smoother and overall beautiful.
The SAT> IP capability was available only after the firmware update. To that had to be run through the setup wizard and the network settings to be adjusted or checked einzuspielen. After the factory settings had restored and everything will be set up again.
The picture quality is good, but you may find minimal aberrations and Blöckchenbildung. In addition, the box seems to have a problem with the 1080p output. When 1080i or 720p, the problems no longer occur. The box appears well from 1080i to have the "upscaling" to 1080p problems, or a general problem with the output of 1080p.
Although the box is> IP on an 8-port server via satellite, the box can only a television signal via satellite receiving> IP, ie recording a program whilst watching another is not possible. A stronger processor and 1 Gb / s connection would have been probably better.
It is nice that the box decrypts encrypted channels (eg RTL HD) on SAT> IP with the SmartCard. Of course, this should work ansich, but you knew that beforehand never what various companies so superior to spoon-feed by the customer.
As the box for my father, who anyway did not know much about art and even for a second TV ranging functions. I personally would give me the box but purchase under any circumstances, (play / recording movies, problems with access) especially because of the miserable network function.
