After the movie "Walk the Line", the CD is already sensational singing on Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon Johnny Cash and June Carter pieces. From there it is only a small step to "At Folsom Prison" to listen in the original - and "Johnny Cash At Folsom Prison" can be the "Walk the Line" CD far behind. Johnny Cash's life pieces of his voice and the lyrics - and what Cash had a voice! Since Phoenix can not keep up. The overall impression of the pieces is lively with "Johnny Cash At Folsom Prison"; the background rhythms and the vocal quality of cash themselves are very much moving as in "Walk the Line" - and the emotions come over full: "Johnny Cash At Folsom Prison" is especially poignant. The songs are tailored to an audience behind bars - whether it is humorous and roguish songs or sad, melancholy. "Send a Picture of Mother," in which a prisoner takes leave of his best friend who is dismissed, is heartbreaking. The mix of humor, mockery, hope and fear in "25 Minutes To Go" (to the execution namely) is exceptional and exciting. And the crowd is cheering course in "Folsom Prison Blues" and "Cocaine Blues". Another highlight is the duet with June Carter, "Jackson" - Again: what a voice! The atmosphere in the prison comes across class; the audience is fully present, Johnny Cash speaks repeatedly with his listeners, making comments and jokes (eg, over the water, which was very nicely addressed in the film). The presentation of the CD shows how much cash has meant his concert in Folsom Prison. A CD that vibrates! 5 well deserved stars.
