A Canticle for Leibowitz (Paperback)

Customer Review

This text is one of the most remarkable of science fiction in the "sub-genre" post-apocalyptic.
From the point of view of style, say it is exceedingly pleasant (choice of words and rhythm) and underline that the characterization is superb, because the characters are of exceptional density and texture well, the universe is d a no less remarkable strength.

On the bottom? : The book opens with a world ravaged by fearsome weapons of mass destruction, and slowly through the pages of this long novel, this world and this society will recover eventually with the risk and threat of again the subject of Fate! (?)

The plot takes place mostly behind the walls of a neo Catholic but outside the monastery is still tangible and is also manifested in many different ways and in this quality narrative.
This monastery and religion are very carefully crafted environments and are deliciously ambiguous the sagacious views of amateurs history of religion.

This novel has a suite that is not really a (both texts are read separately without problems). This is the legacy of Saint Leibowitz which is a real marvel (easier access I think) who walk the reader into a strange North America, straddling and high color settings and permanently hectic.

On the documentary level, the strength of this novel (and the next) is having surfed very cleverly on the problems of civilization and of certain aspects of policy, characteristics of top European and Western Middle Ages, to structure this fiction universe.

Monasteries are places where knowledge is preserved (stored). Out of respect for seniority texts that are diverse and varied, are preserved and copied relentlessly without being read or be truly accessible to just anyone drive ...
It is a monastery that leave the small flame of the reconquest of the characters in the company civilization that are divided into a rich range of nuanced personalities.

This novel is serious on the bottom and very civilized because of the neo-monastic context and then even later because of the episcopal context, but the humor and irony, as the suspense and pace are not absent this amazing work a dramatic and tragic anything, and also, profoundly human.

In short: the strength, scope and scale with a style and a tone absolutely remarkable.
A bit difficult to access, perhaps?

It's Versailles!
