James Herriot dives into his memories and tells his young veterinarian living in 'Yorkshire Dales' during the 1930s offers us the most entertaining story that is, relating over short chapters number of anecdotes. It's fun to turn round (essentially, by the way), touching and moving. Yorkshire is wonderfully evoked, and his encounters with the locals - more or less eccentric - are during a memorable portrait gallery. And do not forget the animals, of course. Really, a book in the warm writing and can only appreciate!
