What this scene, if she would play for in Germany, now could be completed, would contemporary music which droning from loudspeakers. And would this Seventies apartment domiciled in, say, Cologne, then probably sounds the music of this CD advertised here sets from the boxes. Music with a typical Seventies flair, sung by Roy Black. Or let's say, the music of Werner Twardy.
Twardy sat at least in the German-speaking areas of Europe the standard, such as the end of the sixties, seventies, initially had to sound elaborately arranged pop music beat sound. And Werner Twardys unmistakable sound characterized the most successful era for Roy Black of his singing career.
This collection here is the hit soundtrack, which precisely for decoration of the aforementioned seventies apartment fits like the brown tapestry or the colorful floral wallpaper.
The sound and the compositions of Twardy transport nostalgia, wonderful period atmosphere of the late sixties or early seventies, a beautiful mixed dose of Beat, Chanson, Schlager viscous syrup combined with a pinch of Swing. Twardy's arrangements have an equally colorful complexity as the floral wallpaper in the parlor wall: Moderately coated string arrangements, bassoon, flute and oboe as repeated trademarks, crisp but well-dosed electric guitar hooks and the never-ending chorus, leveled with indescribable much reverb, and this luxuriant set to music pastries rounds, so to speak, as a light shining sugar coating, the voice of Gerhard Höllerich alias Roy Black.
It is not likely that Mr. Black had plenty of exhilarating say in the selection and compilation of the songs of his albums. For this was the reign of Hans Bertram (explorers and longtime producer and manager of Höllerich) too makes opinionated. And this Hans, who startled almost at nothing. That he did not even put before the Roy Black the Augsburg telephone directory for setting, is almost a miracle. Here I refer to the zero-albums in the land of songs and wonderful the world is in this box set to. Even Twardy not shooed to that proposed by Bertram home and children's songs to pack so as to extort a further publication of a Roy Black-disc in his bombastic arrangements.
Because there is indeed a large number of titles in this box set, which also shoot very, very wide of the mark and exhaust the tolerance of a large Nostalgic heart itself. For some titles and plates it was all about making charcoal or in the words of Gerd was Uschi Glas for Bertram a puppet.
But there are indeed some very notable delicacies in this box set. Including seven days Fortunately, A rose I give you and my personal highlight called Where are you. This title I was looking for many years without success. Even YouTube yielded no useful purpose results. With the release of this collection, it is now ready: Remastered and reissued echoes this wonderful Roy Black song from the movie When my baby on the drum skin at last from my stereo. And I ignore the troublemakers who assert incessantly, the song Where are you had a cheap squeezes the Neil Diamond classic Sweet Caroline. Logo allowed Also Werner Twardy of the then current, international pop music inspiration. But this song has a perceptible independence, shines with the Twardy of standardized, catchy guitar hooks and applies to me as one of the best tracks sung by Höllerich.
However, the advertised here collection also contains some filler. These are then often cover versions of international hits or known traditionals and may be declared expendable. The recordings of this box sets shine especially when they come from the pen of the success-trailer combination Twardy / Lilibert. The compositions of Werner Twardy and Elisabeth Bertram (Lilibert, wife of producer Bertram) convince with fine, palatable melodies and highly catchy choruses (Just for you alone, A rose I give you, Merry-Go-Round, a love story, dreams in velvet and silk, etc).
What besides all criticism and praise for the re-release of this almost forgotten pop plates must not be left eight non, is a mention to the vocal power of Roy Black: His tone colors and intonations, but the soft precision Stimme.einfach incomparable and simply brilliant. Although his title presented here were imposed unquestioned and his influence remained well below average; He had exactly the voice for exactly this sticky soapy pop songs. The then so-called gentle wave was made for the vocal talents Roy Black. Something detrimental these vocal meekness is when Roy Einsingen momentum fuller title had (Merry-Go-Round and I am alone in the room). Although he originally came from the rock and roll scene, the Lord Bertram is to give right: Roy Black's voice was the voice of pop par excellence, made for gentle melodies from the pop galaxy.
My personal quest is complete. I am very grateful that this Roy Black discs were finally published and the title Where You're my collection finally, finally completed.
On these discs is not all that glitters is gold for Gerd Höllerich shines with his voice to all titles exclusively. And when listening to this CD we find the nostalgic moment resist, relaxed lying on an orange, fabric-covered sofa with a glass of sherry in his hands, the feet garaged in Fellig, shaggy carpet Frans and with the smell of cigar Columbo in the nose.
A sugar-rich four-star trip to the pop-past.
